I've only had lunch at Tristan but am itching to get there for dinner! For an upscale restaurant, they actually have a great "deal" for lunch where you get a full course lunch (salad, lunch and dessert) for $15. My favorite there is the lamb chop and they have great creme brule, and I am very picky about creme brule. The wait staff is always very friendly, and the atmosphere is unique and upscale. I love the design of the bar, and the cook's area is open which I love. I higly recommend Tristan. It's located in the heart of historic Charleston in the City Market (Open Market) area.
I first went to this store in search of maternity clothes and was delighted to see they offer FAR MORE than that! I actually ended up getting a baby gift for a friend during that first visit. Their prices, like most maternity stores, are a bit high, but the quality is great, the service is great, and they have just about anything a new or pregnant mommy needs. I highly recommend them.
The customer service at Beaners (now Bigsby I think) is ALWAYS first class! The coffee is also great. My only complaint is the variety of pastires they offer is not that good. What little they do offer is mediocre in taste. The prices are comparible to Starbucks...not cheaper...not more expensive.
I am very picky about my pulled pork (like just about everybody else) and I love Bessinger's pulled pork! They don't pile sauce all over it like some BBQ places like to do, and all of their sides are mouth watering. I happen to favor their sweet potatoe casserole (can't think of what they call it). The staff is always very friendly, and they bus their tables pretty quickly. Prices are a tiny bit high for lunch, but still worth it!
I took my son to Kiln' Time when he was just over a month old and they did such a great job with him! They painted his little feet, put the imprint on a mug, and turned them into lobsters. For just a couple of extra dollars they painted and finished the mug for me (I'm not artistic). The customer service AND pricing was phenominal, and we plan to take the baby back soon to do some pieces for Christmas gifts. It's also a great place to let older children and toddlers decorate their own pottery, and a great spot for group outings. I highly recommend Kiln Time for ANY family with ANY age child.
I have not eaten lunch at Village Bakery so I cannot review their lunch menu, but I have ordered their cakes and eaten their other bakery goodies. My first experiance with them was when a friend of mine ordered a cheesecake for my birthday. When she asked if they made chocolate chip cheesecake (one of my favs) they told her no but they would be glad to give it a try! Two days later I picked up my custom-made cheesecake (which was HUGE) and enjoyed every single bite. Since then I have placed several orders myself and they are so very friendly, fast and affordable. My other favoriate (red velvet cake) is to die for at the Village Bakery (also huge). I recommend them all the time now.
We attended Red Drum for the first time with a company Christmas party last year and it has since become one of our favorite upscale restaurants. We take out of town family and friends there as much as possible. They have one of the best scallop dishes I've ever had, and their dessert selection is to die for! Nice, cozy atmosphere and the wait staff is superb!! No cons here.
Mid Island Health and Wellness gives chiropractors a bad name! First of all, a majority of their chiropractic tables are in one big room together, so there is absolutely no privacy. The only two times I was in a room with a closed door was the first time for my evaluation and xrays (which was totally uneccessary because I had my own xrays that were not even a year old), and for a massage. I do not have insurance that covers chiropractic care so had to pay out of pocket for each visit, which was way overpriced. Dr. Shapiro is constantly trying to push crazy ideas onto his clients (thank goodness I wasn't one of them although he still tried to push things on me). The only reason I continued to go there was because I happened to adore the other chiropractor (who is no longer there by the way). I do NOT recommend Mid Island Health and Wellness.
Let me start by saying that I have been to many wonderful chiropractors across three different states, and Albemarle Chiropractic is my favoriate. I am lucky enough to have familiy in Albemarle so I still go to Albemarle Chiropractic when I am in town. I use "Dr. Connie" because I am female and she uses some wonderful techniques for different female issues. Of all the chiropractors I have been to, Dr. Connie and Dr. Jay are the least judgemental and do not overpush their holistic views like so many other chiropractors. They let ME decide what is best for my health and guide me in that direction. They also do not push xrays unless it's absolutely neccessary, unlike a lot of chiros! Both chiropractors are constantly attending seminars and classes to further their knowledge in chiropractic care. I highly recommend them.
While going through the process of buying a new home the inspector pointed out some issues with the heat and air unit. The previous home owners had a heat and air company check it out and tried to play down what the inspector deemed as a big problem. Deeck Mechanical stepped in with an honest opinion and submitted a report that backed the inspector. Once we moved into the house of course we contracted with Deeck Mechanical to replace the old unit. They made it a point to get out there as quick as possible (this was in May) before the weather turned too hot. They got us a great new unit with a ten year warranty, and we're actually saving money on our electric bill each month! We've delt with other heat and air companies who have nickled and dimed us, and we appreciate that Deeck Mechanical does not do that!
