dr. kaknis is a great optometrist. (we go to someone else now, but only because we live closer to the new doctor.) he's very personable and friendly. he is also a long-time local, and he remembers details about his patients ... like he is really paying attention. he is a one-man operation, which enables him to offer high-quality, personal attention to his patients ... something that, unfortunately, is lacking in a lot of doctors' offices nowadays ...
reliably good new york pizza. they are our go-to pizza shop. they always make my wings to order, too. (i like them a special way, and tj's delivers.) we are very happy with them.
without doubt, moonstruck has the best chocolate milkshake in the entire universe. they also have a terrific selection of truffles. the shop will not disappoint!
they have a million different beers. they also have free wireless. it's a totally chill place to hang with friends and coworkers and unwind at the end of the day.
dr. kleinhenz is terrific ... really attentive and knowledgeable. she totally takes the time to discuss what's going on with your eyes, etc. her staff are great, too. we love her!
the shop is small and locally owned. the staff are helpful, and service is prompt. they also stand behind their work. the prices are good. selection is good. i recommend the place, for sure.
the wagon staff are very helpful. the selections of mysteries and science fiction are good. they are online, which is a great thing (and rare) for used-book stores.
there aren't many book shops in the poughkeepsie area. bookworm is one of the few used-book shops around. it's an average store, but the staff are cool.
choices are very scant for vietnamese food in poughkeepsie. this place is close to vassar. it is tiny and looks a little dumpy, but the pho is good, and everything else is tasty.
locally owned place that makes all of its own meats/cold-cuts. there's no fake, lo-fat stuff. everything is totally real, and totally tasty. also, for hunters, they will butcher whatever you bring in. we know they do that, but we don't hunt ... so we can't say how well they do at it. we assume, like everything else they do, it's good.
