This place is great!! They have some of the best Greek food I have eaten....and I have worked in the Greektown area for 7 years; so I have had my share of greek. Beit, not in Greece ever but....
Anyway, this is a lively place!! Always some sort of Euro-pop playing and always a crowd!! Now, most of the time the crowds are waaaay prettier than me...seriously, they all look straight from a GQ mag or something, but Muse offers a great place to have drinks after work or on the weekends. If you are down with it, a great place to end the night....the place stays packed until way past the rest of the area. With it being so close to UIC, you would think it full of college aged folk, but oddly not. Most are in the late 20s to mid 30s, so that is great if you want a lively time without the underage possibility.
This is a place that we find ourselves going to time and time again for brunch. it has been consistently great: service, food and atmosphere. It is a must try place if you are in the Andersonville area. I can remember when the place used to be the Balmoral Tap (good bar) but I am happy that the owners of this restaurant are doing so well. Everything there is good; they have some great variations on some basics: corn biscuits, a variety of other fresh bakery items and a laid back atmosphere. The patio is small, but the inside tables move pretty fast. Come anytime for some awesome tea and sweets.
Cesar's has some of the best margaritas in the city!! And they are H-U-G-E. So, ladies, bring cab money because you are not gonna want to be in the CTA after a girl's night from this place. The one off of Belmont is in close proximity to some great dives if you are looking for someplace to "wear" your buzz off. The location down the way is great too. Both get crowded easily on the weekends, so beware. Overall, good food. Not authentic to my tasting, but I never leave hungry.
Hands down, the best Q in town. Coming from Texas, this is quite a compliment, since the Lone Star is known for the skills in the Q pit. Generous portions and sweet potato fries!! Seriously great place to go for a meal before hitting the bars in the area. They have great local music most nights too. Come early if you want a good seat, as it is small on the inside...you will have a wait if the patio is not open. The carry out is a great option for those lazy nights. AND THEY HAVE LONE STAR BEER!! Awesome.
This place drips with atmosphere. It's massive on the inside and out; but the patio is where it's at. During the summer it is usually has a great breeze for sitting and enjoying the great food!! Love the burgers. Even at winter, the patio is great, they bring out those big heaters to keep you all toasty and light the massive fireplaces. The froo-froo drinks are killer...they do the booze right.
Oh, Stella, Stella, Stella!! Man, what can I say? Our little group were steady patrons while a friend lived a few doors away!! I love this lady; she has got fists of steal with a sweet smile! I am not a fan of jaegers (sp?), but there is one Polish type that is made out of honey....oh, so good!! She should have it in full supply there. Oh, and if you are a regular, you can purchase a few cans (or case) to go at the end of the night. Good times always at Stella's.
This was one of the first "dives" that I frequented when I moved to the city....back when it was a dodgy area. It has, for the most part, gone unchanged since the onslaught of the Wicker over-crowding. Still has a great vibe during the week, and early on the weekends. Local bands play there throughout the week; and NO COVER!! One of the few places in the area that still have no cover. Great selection of beer on tap and cheap specials pretty much every day of the week. Worth the visit.
I love Roscoe Village because it has such a diverse selection with restaurants, bars and shopping places! Its a small boutique-er's dream. Denim Lounge would be a must stop for those folks. I know it has more locations in the city, but this location is way laid back; catering to young new moms and puppy lovers (it has a water bowl at the door and a treat dish too!). It has a great selection, from high end names to the more known (and reasonably priced) names. Accessories and tops are great there too!
All this place needs is sand on the floor to make it perfect. All the waitresses and beer girls wear bikinis and the boys wear surfer shirts!! When you walk in it looks like a tiki party blew up in the joint...cabana tables are everywhere. Its located in an old strip mall; looks like the place used to be a large grocery store or something because the place is massive...there is an '80s themed room way in the back that have old '45 records and posters all over....maybe even a blacklight or two. That DJ only plays '80s tunes; but over all the music is new top 100 songs with a few new mixes thrown in there. Its an 18+ joint, so be prepared. Dress code too...who'd of thought that a place where your server is wearing a 2 piece and body jewelry would make you dress so sharply?! But I guess that is to keep the rif-raf away.
OK, so I may be a little biased since I live like down the street from this place. BUT it really IS the freshest sushi I have found in the area. They do take out too; major plus for me. The hibachi style dining is super fun; it would be a great place to take folks visiting from out of town. Everything is so fresh and made to your specifications (I have soy sauce allergies and they were very helpful). Prices are a bit up there for a typical night out, but you really don't feel bad since everything is so good and fresh. They have killer Happy Hour specials on drinks and meals...half price sushi!!!
