This is a funky place that has been around for years. Its agreat place to stop if you want some of the delicious local grown dates. They have other dried fruit and nut items as well. You have to try one of their famous date shake. Sheilds is a must see if you are in the Palm Springs area.

Oh Those Donuts
Oh Those Donuts has been around for years! It used to be a joke in our family that no matter how late you were out at the wee hours of the morning-Oh Those was still open with their fresh donuts. My father in law would not go on any road trip without stopping at Oh Those for one of their cinnamon rolls. They have a nice drive up window so you don't even have to get out of the car. You will never get a dry old stale donut here! Oh Those also has great croissants, muffins and even sandwiches. Forget those chain donut stores that come and go, Oh Those has been a Costa Mesa tradition and has staying power!
Good Dogma Pet Spa
Good Dogma is a great solution to pet grooming. I can take my dog in there and wash her myself without having to wait half a day and have her in a cage waiting for me. They have different shampoo for all skin types. I found it very user friendly. The store will also bathe cats! Our cat got out one day and got so dirty that it was an emergency! I was not about to bathe a cat! Good Dogma was the only place that would let me bring her in the same day. All of the other pet store chains that have grooming said that they couldn't take the cat until 3 days later!
Good Dogma is a very friendly and helpful place to groom your pet. You can either do it yourself with their help or leave your pet for just a short time and know that they will be well cared for.
Ganahl Lumber Company
I like Ganahl lumber in Costa Mesa. They seem a little more friendly and personable than the usual home improvement stores. They have some really nice holiday items in the store as well. The staff is very friendly and are not invisible. You can actually ask them a question without getting run over by a forklift.
Newport Needlepoint
So glad to see that the art of needlepoint is alive and well! Newport Needlepoint has a great inventory of hand painted needlepoint canvases in many themes. They have an especially good variety of Christmas projects. Unlike needlepoint kits that you buy at the craft store, you can hand pick the floss and yarns that you would like to complete your project.
The store offers classes and the staff has many good ideas to help make your project more interesting. I recently bought a canvas and they suggested the use of metalic yarn and beads to make certain areas stand out. If you are a needlepoint fan then you have to visit this store!
Kappo Honda
Kappo Honda is a fun place to go because the atmosphere is very Japanesque and the sushi chefs always greet you in booming friendly voice. The edemame and the potato croquettes iare very good with an amazing dipping sauce.
Don't forget to try some of their plum wine to complete your meal.
Bellaroma
Bellaroma has great fresh pizza with a wonderful hand made. The Bruscetta is awesome and very fresh with a hint of garlic. The homemade pasta are a real treat especially the fetucinni. The restaurant is a favorite of the local high school kids and can get crowded around lunch time, but its worth the wait.
Home Consignment Center
The Home Consignment Center was an excellent find! I was able to purchase a gently used (looked like new) huge sectional for my living room for around $500 (similar items retail for $1500 and up) The store is very particular what they will take in for consignment. They make an appointment to come to your home to look at the furniture. I also got a great trundle bed there at a bargain price!
They have a variety of furniture as well as lamps, mirrors and artwork. Jewelry is also on consigment.
If you need something new for your home that is easy on your budget, then be sure to check this place out and avoid inflated retail store prices!
Wedge Burger
E-Z Takeout is a great little place in Costa Mesa that was established in 1969 in Upland, CA. They have hamburgers, cheeseburgers and the "double take" (similar to In n Out's Double double) and fries of course! The grilled chicken sandwiches are very good also. Any of the sandwiches can be ordered "wild thing" style which includes grilled onions and pickles just to name a few. Sunday night is the 6 hamburgers for $6.99 special. All the food is freshly prepared. they boast that they don't have microwaves or heat lamps. Don't forget to have one of their yummy shakes!
The restaurant is strictly a double lane drive through with just a few outside tables.
