A Coté
This charming little restaurant in the Rockridge area of Oakland serves up a delicious selection of french-themed small plates in the cozy dining room or outdoors on their private patio. Sunny during the day, the patio has heaters for when evenings are chilly. Come prepared to share. The mussels are amazing, but I've never had anything that wasn't delicious. One particularly memorable evening we sat at the bar and enjoyed watching the friendly and efficient staff. Great for a romantic dinner for two, a Cot is also perfect for a group.
Citron
Citron is a great restaurant for an intimate dinner, or a gathering of friends. The food is always imaginative, fresh, and delicious. Staff are friendly and this gem is easy to reach by car, on BART or on foot. Located in the charming Rockridge neighborhood of Oakland, this restaurant is well worth repeat visits.
Palomares Cafe
This is a great local restaurant with a variety of Italian and Mediterranean dishes. Staff are friendly and knowledgeable. Food is always tasty and fresh. Restaurant has a full bar and serves lunch and dinner. My favorite dish is the Mediterranean Platter - officially listed as an appetizer, but excellent for lunch, with freshly-baked pita bread, and yummy hummus, baba ganoush, dolmas, tabouli, etc. Great for sharing.
