I lived at the Pines at Prescott apartments from 1996-2000. At that time, the property was still fairly new and the grounds looked very nice and clean. It was also very affordable! They have a pool and a lot of apartments in the Prescott area do not. They are an affordable housing complex which means you must meet certain income requirements to live there. However, the rent increases each year and they are now around the same price as other rentals. They are also looking a little run down these days.
I decided to go to Sossaman Family dental after receiving many of their coupons in the mail. With the coupon it was a pretty good deal, $55 for a cleaning, exam and x-rays and they do digital x-rays which is pretty cool. On the down side, from what I saw of their regular prices, they are pretty high and the female dentist that I saw was a little hard to understand. I don't think English was her first language and the hygienist had to re-explain things to me.
Cafe Laguna is a fairly new place on Power Rd. near Baseline. If you like fry bread I think you will really enjoy theirs. They make the bread fresh right in front of you and they are pretty large. I chose the original shredded beef and it was very tasty! To me, it's a little pricey, but I haven't compared it to any other fry bread places.
If you are looking for a small critter to add delight to your home, PLEASE choose rescue over pet stores and consider Rascally Rabbit Rescue and Critter Haven of Arizona. The director and their volunteers are wonderful people devoted to saving as many little critters as possible. Their animals receive the best care while at the rescue and all of the animals leave healthy and happy!
My boyfriend was really looking forward to eating a Chinese buffet on his birthday! We chose buffet a Bo-Bo's and it turned out to bet he worst dinner we have EVER had! Closing time was 9 pm and we got there after 8 pm, so that was part of the problem, but in no way an excuse for the disgusting food we encountered! They were out of a lot of things and what was left had obviously been on the buffet for hours leaving it dried out and burned and not the proper temperature. Even the host knew that it wasn't right and when he saw the noodles on my plate, told me not to eat them and he would get fresh ones. He later made a statement about the food not being fresh. It left me with a stomach ache for the rest of the night. We should have left and got our money back, but unfortunately I am too much of a wussy!
We took my son to eat at My Big Fat Greek Restaurant in Mesa for his birthday. The food was excellent and I loved every bit of it! The only thing I was disappointed in was that some friends had told us that the employees do a little song and dance and let you break a plate when you are finished with your meal on your birthday. We also saw it on the commercials later. I told our waiter that it was his birthday and he did give him a dessert with a candle but that was it. No song or dance. Before we left, I told the waiter that my son was really looking forward to breaking a plate and after a few minutes and talking to the manager, they finally let him do it. I could see that they didn't really want to and were very careful and had him break it in a specific area near the kitchen. It was kind of a bummer for him.
I started taking my son to Dr. Higgins in 1999 and at that time I think the office was called "Just For Kids Dentistry". Dr. Higgins was the ONLY kids dentist in the Prescott area. He has now added another office in Prescott Valley and has other dentist that work at his office. This is very helpful because there used to be a long, long waiting list to be seen. He has always done great work on my sons teeth and both offices are so fun for the kids. In the waiting room there are video games to play and a movie room. The Prescott office is Loony Tune themed and the PV office has Science stuff. Very cool places!
I have eaten at the Filibertos Mexican restaurant near Sossaman and Guadalupe many times. I have always received fast service. They give large portions but I wouldn't rate the food top quality.
I decided to stop at one of the new Marketside grocery stores in Mesa because they had strawberries on sale. It's an "ok" store, nothing spectacular. They do have some good looking ready-made dinners but they are expensive! I don't expect Marketside to do very well because of all the Fresh and Easy stores.
This is a great low cost place to go to get your pets spayed, neutered and vaccinated. It's at least half the price of going to a regular veterinary clinic and they do charge for the office visit. So far I have had two cats neutered, two cats spayed and all of their vaccines done there and they have recovered well. However, you need to be prepared to wait a long time. Even though they give you an "appointment", it's the same time for everyone. You check-in early in the morning, it's very busy, and it's first come, first serve. The price you pay for low cost services.
