I belonged to WOW years ago, and while it isn??t the worst gym in the world, it??s far from the best. I've noticed that a number of responses revolve around the fact that the owner is a bit of a wiener. I don??t know if that is true, but I know that one of the managers is a real loser. I believe the manager??s name is Dennis. He was kind of rude, unprofessional, and generally had a real hard-on when he didn??t get his way.
Dennis would throw a fit and enter into a state of encopresis (self-defecation) when he decided he was going to throw his weight around to make a point. For example, I went into the gym one day and saw a sign near the thermostat stating that anyone touching it would lose their membership instantly or some garbage along those lines. Another time, there was a note posted on the televisions in there, near the free-weight section, informing members that if they touched the televisions they would lose their membership and would not be given a refund. Threats are unnecessary and will make an establishment seem third rate.
The television was not about to fall and injure anyone. It had no effect on the establishment or anything for that matter in the known universe. It was Dennis, the man-child, flexing his muscle because he is dissatisfied with life considering that he has a more of a teenager??s job as an adult.
If you didn??t swipe your card right away when you came in (even if you had paid for a year up front), Dennis once again, would have a meltdown. Again, the prevailing theme is a lack of maturity. And since we??re on that note, it is RIDICULOUS that WOW has the policy where if you pay for a year up front it isn??t any cheaper in comparison to paying the monthly dues. That doesn??t make much sense, many times if someone is paying for something in whole, up front, they get a discount.
Finally, some of the membership was bordering on the threshold of mentally retarded. A small group of small guys [under six (6) feet tall] and loaded up on juice and sporting Yankees paraphernalia (of course), kind of running around the gym, grunting and patting each other on their bottoms, it was weird.
I wouldn't bother going to this gym.
