My parents always like to go to Walker's b/c they like the fish and the fact that one of the waitresses know them now. Its feels like that sort of place - dark, dated decor, kind of basic menu. But the fish choices usually are pretty good, though somewhat unimaginative. The ownership is changing though the new owner is purportedly not going to change anything. So while the menu is creative, its decent and if you feel like a sort of small town place, this restuarant has that feel. Prices a little high for the fare, but typical for Naperville.
I love this art shop and have purchased 2-dimensional orginals, christmas ornaments and jewelery and love each piece. I think the prices are really good for the quality and selection they provide. The owner travels for the works and personally selects them (maybe not all), and you can tell. The artisan jewelry is really fun. The staff is very helpful and they have evening events that are fun.
I've tried raffi's a couple of times now, keep trying to have the good experience friends tell me they have. But I have never had a "great" meal, only ones that have been "okay". I think the prices are pretty high for the quality. I've never been there when they've had more than 5 or 6 tables occupied, so maybe my opinion is more prevalent. Parking pretty easy, small bar. I'd skip it.
I am not a big sushi fan, but I love this place! I have been there about 5 times and the choices are diverse, the food consistently good, the prices reasonable. We tend to order too much, so you may want to ask about the number of pieces you get so you don't over order. Its a small place, but there tends to be an open table or two all the time.
I usually biuy wine at Binny's or Sams Liquors, but I love Peterson's. It's a small, family owned place that tends to have an interesting, different selection and I really enjoy wine shopping there. They are very helpful and have never steered me to a wine I didn't like. They have a mailing list and have good events and good sales. While they don't have hundreds and hundres of wines like the big competitors, Peterson's is well worth the stop.
I started going to Cedar Grill when I worked close-by and there weren't a lot of choices neary-by. But the place is great! Decent number of Mediterrean menu choices, great quality! I adore the hummus, could eat it all day. Everyone I take there loves it and even though I no longer work near-by and live about 20 minutes away, I still go there. a great choice for lunch as you're running errands or need a break from work. carry-out, too. A great local find.
I've been to Pete and Johnny's about 8 times now, always for dinner. It is a good size place, though it can get loud. There are a lot of choices on the menu and the portion sizes are large typically, but the quality is just so-so. Don't go expecting any great culinary experience. Its better than basic bar fare, but just go for a fast, decent meal.
I have now seen three homes with their granite installation work and they're all beautiful. Unlimited choices, good prices, really quick install and good guys to work with generally. They also do all types of flooring, cabinetry, tile work, etc. Good resource to have and definitely call them to give you a second quote before you do a project!
I had to travel for work every week for a year and I couldn't have done it without Bel Kon. Jay cut me a good deal b/c I was going to be there so frequently, which helped a lot. But most importantly, my dogs loved going there! I have multiple dogs and they got wonderful care - Dee and the other staff knew my dogs well, told me about changes they saw in health or behavior, and generally provided caring, trustworthy care. The hours are good, though Sundays are more limited pick up and drop off. The runs are large and the outdoor play area is great - big, a kiddie pool for summer, trees, etc. Grooming available on site so your pets are perfectly clean and lovely when you pick them up. Best kennel I've ever used.
I love, love, love Indian and eat it often, trying retaurants everywhere I go. India House (also has a Chicago Grand Ave location) is my absolute favorite. The lunch buffet (Sats too) is an amazing deal and meal for about $11/person. Tons of choices, always a popular entree for those who may be new to Indian food. As their regular menu prices are the highest I've ever paid for Indian, the buffet is easily the better deal. Ordering off the menu could run a couple $50. But really great food, wonderful naan, fresh buffet, lots of wine choices. Kind of wierd to find, you almost have to know its back there.
