The University Terrace apartments are located just outside of campus. The offer plenty of room and are priced reasonably. We had 5 people living in our apartment and space was never an issue. Getting to campus is quick and easy with the shuttles that run frequently and pick you up right in front of your building. On game days the stadium is just up the hill and easy to walk to. These are my favorite apartments in State College.
Beaver Hill Apartments are right in the heart of State College. Easy access to campus. If you are fortunate enough to get a balcony apartment you get a nice view of campus. The rental prices are good and comparable to many in town that demand the same price range for the location. Apartments are well kept and the staff is usually pretty responsive to problems and requests.
Located just outside of State College, this is a great place to go eat. I had a porterhouse steak and it was delicious. The service is very good and the staff is very attentive to everything that you will need to enjoy your meal. If you are visiting PSU for the weekend and need to grab something to eat, I would definitely recommend this place.
Zeno's is just another one of the great basement bars in State College. The prices are average and the atmosphere is typical for a college bar. It is right in the heart of town and everyone knows where it is. It is on my list of must visit bars when I make a pilgimage back to my Alma Mater.
Back when I was at PSU this one one of our favorite places to go. Adn just this past weekend we went there again. We watched the bartenders pour therse wild drinks into pitchers. They picked up 4 to 5 bottles at a time and just dumped them into pitchers. You look around the bar and everyone is walking around drinking out of pitchers with straws. It was a wild time. The band was tremendous and the whole place was rocking. The Saloon was and still is a great place to go. You must experience it.
This place has a bar and also a six pack shop for beer to go. The prices on the six and twelve packs is a little pricey. The bar is fun. Good music and several pool tables. Worth it to stop in for a few and add it to the list of PSU bars.
Walk through the big wooden doors and head down the steps. This bar has been a standard in State College for years. The whole atmosphere just drips of college energy. The bands are always good. The drinks are reasonably priced. And the Phyrst Family plays every Saturday night....Must See!! No matter how old you are, you feel like you are 21 all over again after a night here.
The Brewery is a classic bar at Penn State. The beers are cheap and the music is loud. It hasn't changed in 20 years and that is the way it should be. One of the top hot spots on the Bar tour at PSU.
We had picked out a kitten for my daughter at the shelter. We had it home for a few days when it became lethargic. We took it to this vet and we were not left feeling very confident about what the Dr had to say about the cat. The next day the kitten was even worse. The Dr then gave it a few injections and said it should begin to get better. The kitten was dead 2 days later. Needless to say we never went to this place again.
The High Knob Inn is located deep in the PA woods. First you cross over the covered bridge which is very cool and then you find this little old place on the lake. It has been recently remodeled. You walk in to see a pool table, the bar, and a stuffed version of just about every animal native to the area including a huge PA Black Bear that stands in the corner. The food is pretty good. The wings are great! Love the special sauce and don't forget to order "stuff" (blue cheese and celery) with the wings. Be sure to say hello to Pat and Cindy, they are the brother/sister owners of the place.
