For a place that started out as an ice-cream shop 25 years ago, this home-town deli makes the best soups and sandwiches. If you've got a sweet tooth, their deserts are wonderful, too. You want to avoid lunch hour M-F, because this is a popular lunch place for office staffs. Catch them early or just after lunch and the food is just as great, but the service is a little better when their not so busy. The price is as reasonable as can be.
You can't beat Casey's for a home-town cafe. They have the most wonderful home-made fries and their omelettes can't be beat. It's a family owned and operated place and it's like taking a step back in time to see the farmers and ranchers bellied up to the counter for coffe and a good breakfast. Families, farmers and the working stiff love this place!
I would recccomend that any parent who's child wants to play soccer, do it with KYSA. The parks departments are ok, but the direction for the future is better at KYSA. The child learns skills, sportsmanship and has tons of fun within an organization who specializes in soccer. They know which direction to move the child if there is a desire to go further with the sport and prepares them for high school Varsity soccer. But they also have the recreational level for kids who just want to play a little soccer without any plans for the future. Quality coaches, good fields, good training for refs.
Varsity Baseball (formerly Score Sports) just moved into a fantastic facility on Central Ave in Kent. (The old Pay N Pak). They have a huge pro shop with bats, mitts, cleats, pants, underarmor, gloves, anything you can imagine! The carry a little bit of fastpitch and softball products too. The indoor batting cages push back for a complete indoor infield for practice. Available to be rented by teams, but not sure if individuals can us the batting cages or not. They're even putting in an indoor snack/shack mini restaurant. Family owned by a big family of true baseball knowledge!
Performance H/AC is a business made up of people with integrity. They have since left the residential hvac business but still work in commercial. They back their work, and expect the highest quality work from their technicians. The ownership and staff can be trusted to tell you the truth with what your needs and expenses are, without any bs.
We brought a camera in for repair and they were virtually no help at all. They kep the camera for over a week before we called for a status. They said they couldn't do anything with it and suggested we send it back to the manufacturer. Couldn't they have called us with that? It would probably still be there if we hadn't called to check on it. Service is bad. They had supplies needed for our kid's photography class, but now can get those things at any chain that's more convenient.
O'Connor does a great job with Senior portraits. They have pretty grounds for a good variety of backgrounds. They offer a range of packages and prices to fit with what you can afford and are fairly quick about getting the pictures back - especially when you're up against deadlines for year book & announcements. I'm sure they do bigger events like weddings, but was happy with our Sr. pics.
I love this tanning salon. The young owner is dedicated to making her business a success from the service she gives, the friendly atmosphere and the availablity. You can walk in without having to wait or appointments are usually when it's convenient for you. They're clean and good beds. I love the "stand-up" booth. It's not as relaxing to stand, but it's great for those who get that "coffin" feeling in a traditional bed. The "stand-up" booth is faster, more intense tanning so you're not standing there long. It's a little more expensive than the others - but worth it.
Sunsational Tan is a great place to tan. Never used their spa services though. The tanning beds are all working well, and I like their offer of headphones where you can conrol the music selection. They offer some options for tanning lotions and moisturizers as well as a really nice little selection of jewlery. Their prices are good and they offer gift certificates! I purchased one for a friend, once.
Eejays was a place I always stopped in when looking for a salon only product. However, I never went out with anything. Their selection is limited, and they have one or two stations for stylists who never seem to have any availablity for walk-ins. You'll do better to go to a larger shop with a larger selection on not waist your time.
