I LOVE the knish sandwiches here- I also got their cheese & meat platters to bring to a party- big hit. My roommate's sister always wants to eat at Press when she visits- she loves the regular pressed sandwiches & salads.
The french fries with the different sauces are very good. The soups are good but they're mostly cream-based soups & can be greasy some times. I haven't eaten in the back- but it looks nice too.
I've been trying to see 1 of Cozy Home's properties for over a month now. I saw the property on MLS & haven't been available during any of the Open Houses. I am very interesting in the property & have seen other properties in the area through other real estate agencies.
It seems hard to find a time when myself, the agent, and the owner are all available. This is fine but the agent doesn't always follow-up with me & is definitely not proactive about scheduling a time to show me the property. This month was reported to be the lowest in home sales in years so I don't understand why I need to keep contacting the agent over & over. I've had to e-mail and call him multiple times. It's too bad the owner doesn't realize that their real estate agent isn't doing his job.
Since going to Kyoto, I will only eat Philadelphia rolls from there- the smoked salmon is SUPER fresh. I'm not a huge fan of the peanut dressing that comes with the Thai salad but that's more of a personal preference thing- it's a little on the thick & spicy side for me.
We've yet to try the Thai selections or Japanese entrees b/c we always get the sushi there- it's just so good. My friend who told us about Kyoto likes the pineapple fried rice & Pahd Thai.
I have driven past Total Pet Care hundreds of time w/o stopping in- I finally went b/c I needed to get something for my mom's dog to help him support his back end. The store is like a warehouse & must carry everything. I found a harness for him that goes around his 2 back legs & can be used for any size dog (temp solution until his wheelchair came).
They also carry the difficult-to-find natural food that we feed my dog. They offer training & socialization classes also.
I joined their free 'frequent shopper' program- once I spend $250 they give you a $8 coupon which is great since the dog food is about the same price everywhere!
We go here A LOT b/c it is close to our house & the pizza is good. We went on the earlier side once & got a personal (plain) pizza which was very good- better than a plain slice. I like the baked ziti (sometimes I get it with sausage). The portions are a funny size though- they're just a tad big but not big enough to split it into 2 meals. They usually have a large pizza selection in the case. The garlic knots are good too.
Although Friendly offers a lot of other products- they started as a pharmacy & that still remains the root of their business. They have much more in stock than the chain stores in the area & if they don't have it, they can usually get it w/in 24 hours.
The store is huge now & offers so much more than a typical drug store. My aunt bought a shirt there that she has received compliments on- unfortunately no one in Staten Island knew what Friendly Drugs was!
The wings at First Edition are the best- even the bleu cheese taste special. They offer late night food specials- half price wings, pizza, sandwiches- depends on the time & day. We've gotten the pizza a few times- it's good 'bar' pizza- you can pick your own toppings. I also like the portebello sandwich with mozzarella on a wrap- I usually add a touch of salt though. It's all typical bar food
If you're looking for a low-key time to eat go after dinner- around 9 or 10- the bar crowd seems to come in before & after that.
The first time I was here was for a bridal shower. The pesto oil that comes with the bread was SO GOOD! They put out punch which I thought was a cute touch. We were there for lunch & there was about 50-60 people. We had the front room b/c the back was being used also.
There were 3 entree choices & appetizer choices- I had the penne alla vodka which I would recommend. We went back for dinner- food was still very good but I actually preferred the pasta to the fish special I had that night.
We were here a couple of years ago & just never went back even though the food was good. We decided to go back tonight & I must have forgotten how good the food really is!
We had the sausage appetizer & the eggplant salad- both were really good. Even the oil that they put out with the bread was really good. We had the stuffed fillet & stuffed calamari- both were very good & the portions were a good size. The rice was good too- it looks plain but don't be fooled! We forgot that to end the meal, they give you a little custard square! Yummy. I think that you have to specifically ask for the check though...
We've eaten in but mostly take out here. We like the food- it's definitely not 'fast food' Mexican. The restaurant itself is kind of dark- it's geared to the St John college students & is more of a bar setting than a restaurant. I like the pulled chicken & chorizo enchiladas. The white sangria is good too & it's something that not all Mexican restaurants offer.
One major minus (probably also due to the college students)- they only accept cash.
