This is a must do family experience. Harr's is an old fashioned drive-in theater. They typically play two movies back to back. You park your car next to a speaker or can tune your radio in. PIck up trucks and mini-vans are great, but many just bring camping chairs, blankets, or sit in cars. Kids play with soccer balls or frisbees before the movies. The concession stand is old fashioned -- great milkshakes! You really feel like you're in the 50s for awhile. We drive about an hour to go to Harr's as often as we can. As a side note: this is the PERFECT date for people with an infant or small child! Baby can sleep in the back while Mom and Dad go to a MOVIE :)
Routzahn's is easily accessibly from Rt. 15 and they have a great variety of furniture and appliances. Their prices are kind of high, but they do regularly have pretty good sales.
This is where I got engaged and I highly recommend the Railroad House. Great service. The cottage is SO cozy and the breakfast was just wonderful. Can't say enough good things about the service and the experience. Clean, nicely decorated, comfortable...
This is a VERY casual joint, but my favorite bar for many years. One of those places where when you go in, the bartender recognized me and said "the usual?" I felt awkward the first time I went (and was WAY overdressed), but it quickly became my favorite hangout. Especially with the 80s tunes on the juke box and the darts. Good times.
I haven't been to Alicia-L in a long time but when I was in high school I modeled for them in a fashion show. They had a great variety of clothing. Original and appealed to all ages. I found stuff that I really liked in high school and my mom found stuff she liked, too. The clothing has really lasted, too. 15 years later, I still have some clothing that I got that is in great shape (and gets compliments!)
I have gotten things from Ed's from the local farmer's markets in the summer time, and boy do I miss them out of season! I keep meaning to visit them. Their chocolate chocolate chip cookies are just incredible. When I was pregnant I absolutely craved them. I haven't been disappointed by anything that I've tried! I know many who have ordered special occasion cakes from Ed's and have been very pleased.
I went to this store because I got a flyer that promoted some great sales. The store is pretty bare bones -- nothing to impress, but the sales were great. Good customer service.
California Tortilla has a nice selection of healthy food and kid friendly food. I go their regularly with a toddler, and it has a good atmosphere for him, not to mention employees usually quickly help me with the door and get a high chair for me. They often have great promotions for free tacos, etc. It is obviously a fun place to work and it carries over to the experience.
I haven't used this company for landscaping, but I have visited their shop and they have a GREAT selection of trees and plants. It is not too far outside of Frederick to get to and it makes for a nice morning out -- so much fun to browse and choose!
This is seriously the nicest dentist office I have ever been to in my life. You walk in the door and you feel like you are going to a day spa. Even though it has an upscale feel, it is, in fact, a family run business. The receptionist is the mother-in-law and even offered to watch my 2 year old (even had a Thomas video!) so I didn't have wait for an appointment. The dentist was so nice and knowledgeable. They definitely have a new loyal patient and I highly recommend him to my friends and family.
