This is my family's favorite restaurant in the whole world. I am not a huge fan of fish, but I had the Macadamia Crusted Talapia and my mouth has been watering for it ever since. We can't wait to go back on vacation so we can eat here. It was the highlight of our vacation.
This is a cute shop you need to browse if you are in Market Square. I love hats and almost no one carries hats anymore. Well, they are at Vagabondia. Vintage style, romantic style, and hippy chic hats. The clothing is very loose and romantic also. Mostly long and flowing pieces that are very feminine. I wished that they carried more matching bags and shoes. Vagabondia features clothing from April Cornell, Flax, Sacred Threads and Grace Chuang. Park in the new garage located behind Vagabondia. Parking is only $1 during the week and free after 6pm and on weekends.
If you are a do-it-yours decorator or crafty person, you 'll want to add the Foam Rubber & Fabric Outlet to your resource list. I have taken many vintage finds in and had rubber padding cut to size. I found some old bar stools at a tag sale, took them in and had them add new padding and a new waterproof fabric. I only needed a staple gun and voil! I have cute new outdoor stools. I have friends who drive from Chattanooga to buy here so I know the prices are good.
Earth Traverse sells everything you'll need for your outdoor adventure. I bought my first mountain bike here and they still have a great brand selection. Outside you'll see a plethora of kayaks, canoes and rafts. You'll need these to enjoy all our nearby rivers and lakes. The gear selection is what you'd expect, North Face, Columbia, Patagonia, etc. As with many good local retailers, if they don't have it, they can probably get it for you.
If you need to get rid of some of the clothing clutter, take all of your clean good condition kids clothes and gear to Weepeat. They will put your things on consignment and cut you a check when they sell. Easy. They are picky about what they take though. Clothes must be in good condition and on hangers already. No inexpensive brands like Target or Old Navy - they can't make any money from these. And be sure to shop here. You probably make much of your investment back selling here, but you will find good bargains when buying. . And it's nice to clean house.
When I worked for a medium sized business here in Knoxville, I always used Printing Image for our needs. This family owned and operated business was always professional and courteous. More importantly they were quick and accurate. Someone in my office missed a mistake when proofing an advertising leaflet once and it was caught before it was printed and brought to my attention. That would have been a costly mistake. The location is convenient to many businesses too (on top of Bearden Hill) and they do deliver.
I try to visit Stanley's at least a couple of times per year. They have a wide assortment of house and garden plants. If you are searching for something unusual, they can often locate it for you too. My favorite time of year to visit this nursery is pre-Christmas holiday. They have the most beautiful Poinsettia collection and it is so pretty to see that room full of (mostly) red. I have had pretty good luck with most of the plants I've bought at Stanley's but check carefully (as with any nursery) - I have brought plants home that had spider mites and various leaf blight.
Mac's is a old fashioned pharmacy only in they still care about customer's and their well being. When health care in Tennessee is being cut for many and costs are soaring, here is a place that is actually trying to help those who have lost their prescription coverage. Prices are good. They also deliver medicines which is terrific if you are too sick to leave the house. Support the local guys!
I always look to see what bike will be in the window at Greenlee's. A racer bike, tough mountain bike or custom four person bike. One day I saw it. Pink, vintage look, big handle bars. A real girlie girl bike. I knew it was for me. Greenlee's staff are well trained and can help you find the bike style and size that is perfect for you too. Prices are average, but they are super helpful here and you will get great service.
