Mentatsu is small, but it has great service and amazing food. They are known for their ramen, from which they have a wide variety to choose from. The price is good and they are open fairly late as well!
Oki Doki has a great all different types of asian cuisine, a little something for everyone! The food is pretty good but I think it is somewhat overpriced for the portions and quality. I am in love with their tuna spring rolls and cajun seared tuna sushi rolls as well. It is somewhat of a drinking restaurant so it's a good place to hang with friends and drink some (and they let you buy and keep your bottle there for the next time!).
This is the only optometrist I have been going to my whole life and I have always been so satisfied. Dr. Wake is easy to talk to and it seems like he can fix any problem dealing with my eyesight. The selection of glasses that they have are also great - anything from designer frames to economical ones, they got it. They are easily accommodating to the patient's wants and needs. I hope to keep going here for as long as possible!
This is my second favorite ramen place in the OC. It's super flavorful and it's conveniently located in Mitsuwa. I was excited to see one there because I have been eating at the one in Torrance for a while. The prices are a bit high for the size, but the flavor makes up for it.
Spoon house is like a small restaurant from Japan. The fresh baked bread is amazing and their spaghetti (which you could see into the cooking area) tastes genuinely Japanese (well, the company started in Japan). Their menu consists of almost 97% spaghetti, and they offer TONS of types of spaghetti. I have tried at least half of them over the years and I have yet to find something I don't like. The place is kind of small so it's hard to find parking sometimes and there is usually a wait during lunch or dinner hours, but it's definitely worth it!
I love Japanese-style spaghetti and I have yet to find many places that sell such great japanese spaghetti. This is conveniently in Mitsuwa and they sell several types of spaghetti. My favorite is the typical meat sauce. They also sell delicious cakes!
This is a Japanese-owned hair salon. I have been going to Naoki (the owner) since I was little and once he moved from VanVan in Torrance to his own place, Ability, I would go to Costa Mesa to get my hair cut by him. I think the design is clean and very nice. I don't really go here anymore since I am into more funky cuts, but if you want something basic or japanese-y, this is the place to be!
This is one of my favorite places to eat. I have been to the other Giuliano's as well. The atmosphere is so great and I love how fresh everything is. My favorite is their meatball sandwich -- I've been eating here since I was young!
Ten Ren's tea and boba are pretty good. This place gets pretty crowded around dinner time, especially on the weekends. The location in Diamond Plaza is great. The service is pretty good and the food is alright.
If you can imagine a trendy Japanese clothing store from Tokyo pulled out and put in the middle of LA, that is what ANAP is. It's pink, glittery, and fashionable. All of the accessories, clothes, and shoes are imported from Japan. I love shopping here because everything is so unique and cute.
