This is the new Max Karaoke they made on Sawtelle in LA. The selection is amazing and just as good as the original Max in Torrance. This karaoke place, however, is not as nice as the one in Torrance (unless they've fixed it up since I've been there last) because it used to be a different karaoke place before.
Max karaoke is just like a karaoke place in Japan. It's definitely known by Japanese people as being one of the best ones in the LA area. I happen to have lived by this one for a long time so I've been there a lot. The selection here is amazing. They stay up-to-date with Japanese songs and American songs (they also have Chinese and Korean songs). It's fun! It can be pricey, but if you go during Happy Hour (until 8pm) it's a very good price!
The ramen here is okay. I don't know if I would go back since I know of other, better ramen shops around LA. The ramen is pretty cheap but it's not super flavorful or anything. Friendly service, though.
This store is full of all things JAPANESE. They have tons of toys and clothes and sell brands like hello kitty and toki doki. Its a small store off of Melrose Ave., but it is crammed with so much stuff that you can spend a lot of time in there.
Munky King is a very trendy store on Melrose in West Hollywood. It contains many hard-to-find collectable Japanese toys and vinyl dolls designed by artists (many of which are extremely pricey because they are one-of-a-kind). It's a fun store to visit to view all these dolls in glass cases and the artwork on the wall (they also have a small gallery in the back).
Kidrobot always has fun vinyl dolls, knick knacks, and clothes! The prices are always a little high for the trendy and artsy merchandise. This store is a bit smaller in both size and selection than other kidrobot store's I've been to.
The line for this place is long, but there's a reason people are willing to wait! The burgers are delicious and their menu has a variety of burgers and different foods (fish and chips, etc.). The location is very convenient (Ferry Building in downtown SF). Their sweet potato fries are also one of the best I've had in a while!
I went here with several friends. It's a great place to hang out with friends since shabu shabu is a very social food. The price was pretty good since it's all you can eat. My friend and I, both girls, ate 2 plates of meat (HUGE plate btw), and our 3 guy friends ate 4 so it was definitely worth it!
This restaurant is right over the water so the view of the City is amazing. Someone even drove their yacht right up, tied it up by the patio, and stopped by to eat! The food was very good (I got an angus burger, which was amazing). The prices are more on the high side.
This is a very California-y restaurant. It's very large and open, but it can get crowded during dinner. The menu is not very extensive, but the food is very good. I got grilled cheese, which was the most AMAZING grilled cheese I have ever had in my life. It came with arugula salad, which has now became one of my favorite salads. I am definitely going back.
