Large horse farm with indoor and top of the line instructors. They compete on the "A" circuit. I know people that have been there for over 30 years so that speaks for itself. Located in a beautiful neighborhood and there are some trails nearby as well. Don't think you can rent a horse to go on them though.
This farm has changed hands so many times it's hard to keep track of who is running the farm and who is not. It's slated for development now, so if you want to ride there, hurry in before its too late. The indoor arena is awesome though. I hear the people running it right now are very nice.
Every winter I used to go here so I could ride in the indoor even though I already had my own horse someplace else. I started riding here in 1969 and have been around there off and on for almost 40 years now. It has new owners but I know them and they are very nice people.
I find the agents knowledgeable, and easy to contact. When working in the neighborhood I find their signs on more properties in more price categories than most companies. They must be popular with the locals.
I'll go out of my way to eat there (at times as many as 10 miles and or waiting for a couple of hours to eat until I will be near the diner.) I can't believe the other review was not so favorable. Get the chicken and broccoli franchese for a tasty delight and take home the leftovers for a second meal. Big portions, delicious, and reasonably priced. I love the hunt scene decor, the wait staff is friendly, and it is romantic there as well.
So I stopped in and tried this place. For me the best way to judge a restaurant is by their burgers. It was excellent and lunch didn't leave me broke like most places on the main drag there in Southampton.
We love to make the trip out east just to ride on the beaches at the end of summer. They always give us good horses and we have the best time. Talking to the ranch hands is great too on the rides.
But looking over Montauk from this hotel's high perch is breath taking. The Manor itself is stately and has old world charm. It has great amenities like pool, tennis, health spa and buses that run into town or the beach.
I found the high tension wires and industrial properties on the approach unattractive. But once I checked in, the serenity of the sunset view over the bay water from the balcony of my room replaced the unpleasant views. Much more reasonably priced than the hotels on the ocean side. The restaurant was awesome when I ate there, but the short trip to Gerneys can't be passed up for dinner either.
For a quick bite either on my way out east or on my way back west. The food is good and the prices are reasonable. They have a bunch of those specialty pizzas that you can get by the slice. I've even shared a table when its busy and gotten to have some interesting conversations with regulars!
