I had an injury to my foot on a Fri. p.m. (horse stepped on foot and ground her weight onto my foot) and went to the ER the next day for x-rays. They didn't see any fractures/breaks but told me to keep it elevated for a few days. A couple of weeks after that, my family doctor told me to have it x-rayed again to make sure there weren't fractures/breaks since some of the swelling had gone down. I went to NE Orthopedic for an x-ray and exam of the foot. The doctor came in and said it wasn't broken, he had looked at the x-rays from the ER, which were taken 3 weeks earlier. He then proceeded to lecture me on smoking (yeah, I know I should quit). He said the foot wouldn't get any better unless I quit. This went on for about 15 minutes until he offered to give me a boot to wear for walking. He never touched my foot, he had me show him where it hurt and that I couldn't bend my toes.
The nurse wasn't too sure how to put the boot on, so I had to read the directions.
To this day, my foot still hurts and is still swollen. I had a fracture in the same foot 20 years ago in the same area so what are the chances it is fractured again....pretty high in my opinion.
This doctor needs to go back to medical school and also take a class in 'bedside manner.. The last thing he said to me was to "go to Google and search for smoking and healing, you will find alot of articles."
It's a shame because my son had knee surgery a couple of years ago by one of the doctors and it was a blessing for him.
If you need a foot doctor in Cabarrus County...drive as quickly as you can to find another doctor, don't use the one at this clinic!
