We love Jim's Corner Furniture. We have bought our furniture here for 7 years now and have always been pleased with quality. They know us by name and are very helpful in getting the financing options we need. They have a good selection for a hometown furniture shop and can custom order from many companies. All the staff is helpful and will walk around with you to help you if you want. Their delivery area is very broad and prompt. They bring it in gently and help you get it set up the way you want. Worth the little extra money it might cost to get the individual attention and quality.
This little shop is hidden in dowtown West Jefferson. It has a very French feel and some very nice and unusual items. There are some clothes, lingerie, purses, and women's accessories. There are also home decor items, stationary, bath items, and a few home linens. The style of the items are all along the line of feminine, French, and boutique. But if you like that type of thing or are looking for a nice gift for a lady then you've found a hidden gem. I love the colorful table cloths they have in and some of the purses are so cute. The clothes are only typical S to L sizes, but some of the most unusual and charming lingerie items I've ever seen. They have old world class and style. Some of the items are expensive, but some of the smaller things are affordable. Fun shop to visit.
Thomas Zuber is a top rated doctor and Mountain Family Medicine is a hidden gem in Boone. The office is small but the care is first rate. A family practice that still has the actual family practice atmosphere. Both Dr. Zuber and Cassandra Stull, PA really know their patients and provide comprehensive care. The intake appointment and physicals you get here are some of the best, most comprehensive I've ever heard of. They will take the time to provide the care each person needs. They have professional nurses working in their office and provide more in office services than many family practices. Dr. Zuber is very knowledgable about many areas and does an excellent job with dermatology procedures. The office is super clean and the staff first rate.
This has been my dentist for a couple of years now and I am very pleased with him. The ladies who work in the office are so nice and down to earth. They always go out of the way to make sure my insurance gets filed correctly. Dr. Amato is very nice and takes his time with each patient. They have sent me a bill or cut me a discount when I was running low on money and couldn't pay the whole bill that day. The office is super clean and right in Jefferson. They run on time and are always helpful, but less expensive than other dentists in the area. You really feel like they are not just trying to make a buck off of you.
Hooray for a good bookstore in downtown Ashe. This little shop has a surprising variety of books for its size. The shop is so neat and the books are laid out in a way that makes it easy to see them all. They have a small, but good children's section with award winning books. They also have a great section of local authors and stories- very interesting reads. The customer service is first rate and they will order almost any book your looking for. I have ordered several times and have never had a problem. Support the local bookstore!
This is our favorite local shop in dowtown West Jefferson. They have a good variety of shoes, clothes, hiking gear, sunglasses, outdoor recreational items, etc. It is a must for anyone who needs a place to buy outdoor gear while in Ashe. They run really decent sales fairly often and it is a great place just to go buy nice walking/running shoes locally. The staff is super helpful and will special order anything they can if they don't have it in. They honor their warranties very well and will send broken/damaged products back to the company for you. They have a really nice selection of coats and winter gear in right now and they have sizes up to XXL!
We were so excited when Ashe Co. finally got its first Japanese place to eat. We love Japanese and quickly began going there. At first it was okay, but the more we went the worse the food got. The soup would be cold and the shrimp was the most chewy, frozen, tiny, cheap shrimp I've ever seen. I could cook better shrimp out of a box. The steak was always tough. Thus, they only decent option was the chicken. The food was over priced for the quality. We have several friends who say they've gotten sick and vomitted a couple of hours after eating there, but I have not heard any factual reports of santitation issues. However, we are glad there is now a new Japanese place and Shokudo isn't our only option.
I have been going here off and on to get a pedicure for about a year. I would go here when I couldn't get into a salon that day but needed a pedicure that day. Well, I don't think I will go back anymore. Every time I went the time the lady spent actually doing my pedicure got shorter and shorter. It was like now that they thought I was a loyal customer they didn't care. The past couple of times she barely took a minute to scrub my heels. And she took this clipper type tool and clean around my nail bed- it hurts and this time I ended up with an in grown nail from it. They started doing eye brow waxing and I tried it there for the convenience- that was a mistake. The lady literally waxed my brows in like 2 minutes. She didn't even look at what she was doing hardly. Now I will admit they came out okay, but it was the most painful wax I've ever had.
I have become a loyal customer of Cutter's Edge. I've never been disappointed with any salon service I have gotten there. The pedicures are way better than the ones you can get at a place that just does pedicures. When I call last minute, they really try to work me in. All the ladies are super nice and they all do a good job. I can switch who I go to if I need to get in and I don't have to worry about being disappointed. I've never seen an upset or angry customer come out of there. They take the time they need to get it right and have a loyal customer base- now I know why!
My son attended her part time for about a year. That was one of the best things about it- they offered part time care with flexible hours. The staff was very friendly and seemed to genuinely care about the kids. When my son couldn't nap there, his teacher sat by him and just let him lay there quietly. They do educational activities with the kids and let them play outside every day that the weather isn't bad. They worked with the kids to develop the specific skills they needed and were patient. At the time I enrolled my son, it was one of only two 5 star daycares in Ashe.
