Mr. G's is a neat little spot offering a variety of different booths with many different products. There are also hair salons and beauty supplies inside. What I went there for was the Islamic clothing booths, there are some nice Somali women running a booth in there with very cool Abayas and skirts, tunics and scarves, and cute stuff for kids too. You can also find other ethnic products at other booths inside.
I loved going to Ada's to find my beloved Jamaican needs like curry powder, the drink "Ting," some Irish moss (heh heh!) and other things needed to make my Jamaican home-cooking kick! Not the best service, pretty unprofessional, as we normally see in local grocers, but it is not as bad as I have experienced elsewhere.
I really like the selection of Islamic products available here, books, audio CD's, lecture DVD's, clothing for men, women, and children, children's learning toys and books...there is so much for the small space though, it is very crowded! Friendly staff, polite, never rude at all. I would like to see a better size range in the women's clothing - I could never find a small-sized overgarment.
This is such a cute little cafe right at Roxbury Crossing. Very pretty, comfortable decor, and I love their hot beverages, especially their tea. A nice combination of traditional and ethnic teas available.
I enjoyed eating the somali cuisine from this cafe. I find the prices on the meals to be very high, even for the quality, it is almost $10 for a chicken/rice/salad plate. I would say the pricing could be broken down, but the food is great nonetheless, and the best thing on the menu is the awesome somali tea!!! So yummy and sweet!
I love the fried chicken at this joint, ok french fries, and really good pies. Also offers fried fish and wing dings, burgers, among other menu items. Very tasty, I just question whether or not the chicken is really halal.
I like shopping at Tello's only for their clothing. It is not top-notch quality, but it is good enough for the good pricing. I have had jeans from tello's that I purchased while in high school, and almost 10 years later they are still in good shape and I am still wearing them! But the problem with Tello's is their usually unprofessional and unfriendly staff. That is what turned me away from shopping there unless I couldn't find something in another store that I really thought they would carry at a good price. Need to work on hiring respectable staff!
I have a wonderful memory of this tailor shop, they are wonderful people! I brought my senior prom gown there for a last minute urgent repair, just a few hours before prom. They did not have the correct colour zipper in stock, because the zipper needed to be replaced, but seeing how important the occasion was, the man said not to worry, he actually went out of his way to go and BUY the correct colour zipper for me, and not only did he repair it perfectly, but when my mother went to pick it up for me, he did not charge me a penny!! I always remembered that. Great people, wonderful service!
This laundromat is not that good! Whenever I washed there, I was NOT satisfied because my clothes did not come out very clean and the rinse was not that good either. And their prices are pretty standard laundromat costs, so it's not like I paid less for worse service. You can get better washing done at other places for the same price. Also, the staff is totally unprofessional.
This laundromat is pretty ok, I felt the washers were really good, got things cleaned thoroughly, rinsed really well. The lady attendant I always knew there was very friendly, and very forthcoming. Prices were decent at the time. It was a bit dirty and shabby, but manageable, not too bad.
