I recently hosted a business lunch at Mosaico. I had never been there, and was a little nervous about it. I was thrilled with how it all worked out. The restaurant is decorated subtly, but beautifully. The menu was original, but not so much so, that you couldn't identify the items you were ordering. The food was very good, as was the service. I'm looking forward to returning for dinner.
When Galaxy Nails moved to their new location, I was thrilled. It was an owner operated business, who took great pride in making their customers feel remembered and welcomed. I was a bi-weekly customer who had the best-looking wraps in the neighborhood. Pedicures were about once a month, and they were pretty great too. A few months ago, the owner sold the business. While some of the staff stayed, most of the best ones left. They are still satisfactory, but the personalized service is long gone. You won't be disappointed with your manicure, but you won't be thrilled either.
I've been to Shalom Nails on and off over the past several years. I usually go in for a regular Manicure and Pedicure. The staff there is always friendly, and generally very accommodating. They do a nice job, and their prices are competitive for the area. The only reason they did not get a "very good", is that they have a tendency to tell you that the wait time is 5 minutes, when it's more like 35 minutes. Not a big deal, but I would prefer if they just told the truth, I would run more errands, and come back later.
I first discovered the Double Dipper Cafe on a cold January night. I needed a birthday cake, and I was shocked to find them open! The "DD Cafe" has great ice cream, even better ice cream cakes, and all types of homemade desserts. They have a cozy little sitting area, and they are wise enough to be open more than they are closed. It's the perfect place to stop after a movie, or on a relaxing weekend day. Treat yourself, you won't be disappointed.
Irma's is your one-stop-shop for all your gift giving and party needs. It's filled with all types of top-quality last minute gifts, personalized invitations, balloons, candles, frames, and a fabulous section dedicated to making gourmet gift baskets. All that, and it's a Gold Crown Hallmark Card store too! You won't walk out of there empty handed.
Golden Hanger is a local Fanwood Dry Cleaner, with a fabulous seamstress! I've been been bringing my dry-cleaning there for over a year. Though a bit expensive, their cleaning is fast and thorough. I've also brought all types of tailoring jobs to them, from the most basic hem, to complicated jacket and dress alterations. The women there will give their honest opinion, and will generally offer you a few options (expensive, and inexpensive) for your alteration request. They are a rare find.
Fuji, is a small Japanese restaurant located in a strip mall in Westfield. The atmosphere is casual and cozy. The food is always fresh, and the wait staff is always friendly and attentive. The price is right, and you're equally welcome to have a quick bite to eat, or to spend a few hours relaxing. It's a great place to go with a small group of people, or even on your own. Just remember it's BYOB, and I heard they now deliver!
I truly would. When Kathy landed at Second Glance Salon, I hit the jackpot. While always busy, the staff at Second Glance Salon is always friendly, and always welcoming. My appointments are kept right on time. And, I personally think Kathy is the best hairdresser and colorist anywhere out there. She cuts and colors for you and your lifestyle, not based on what the latest trend might be. The only thing holding back Second Glance Salon from a 5-star rating is their lack of products to purchase. They only feature one brand, and while it is a good solid brand, there are brands that are much better out there. Other than that, I think this is one of the best Hair Salon's in NJ.
Marion Jewelers is a small to mid-size jewelry store in the heart of Scotch Plains Town. They cater to repeat business, taking the time to get to know their customers, they never try to over-sell you. They have a large selection of watches, some giftware, and jewelry at all price-points. I've found their styles to be classic, unique and just a step ahead of the latest trends. The owners have a good eye for what will soon be the next "in" look in jewelry.
They have also done some difficult repairs for me, as well as a few custom pieces. I trust them completely, and wouldn't go anywhere else.
I've been to Jade Isle for Friday Night Karaoke. Dinner, drinks, and live entertainment. What more can you ask for so close to home! The food is always fresh, and always good. The drinks are strong, but not overpowering, and the karaoke is just too much fun for words. A good inexpensive night out. I highly recommend it.
