Trout Lake Camp is an amazing Christian camp for kids from K-12. They have weekly camps running all summer long as well as family camps toward the end of summer. The campgrounds are beautiful and are located on a peninsula on Trout Lake, which is on the famous Whitefish chain of lakes. The cabins are nice, the boat docks and swimming area are impeccable. But most of all, the staff are amazing and provide a fun week of camp for your child at a very reasonable rate. I recommend them to everyone.
The Oak Inn is an interesting family restaurant with a wide selection on the menu. Your kids will enjoy the eclectic selection of hand painted murals on the wall. The menu offers traditional foods like roast beef, hamburgers and Broaster chicken as well as Mexican offerings. Our family meets here often and we never have trouble getting a table for a large group. We have always had excellent service. I would highly recommend them to others.
The Stitchin' Post is a wonderful yarn shop in the lovely town of Saratoga Springs. If you are ever in town you should definitely stop in! My mom, sister, and I stopped in and found a wonderful selection of yarns. In addition there were beautiful samples of already made projects. One project for a scarf caught our eyes and a nice store clerk showed us where to find the yarn, and even gave us free directions to make the project! We love this store and recommend it to all we know! Tip: Make sure you give yourself plenty of time to browse because you are going to need it!
I have stopped at From the Heart many times in the past few years for gift and items for my own enjoyment. I have always found a great selection to choose from. The cashiers are always friendly and quite willing to help should you need to find something. I have found CD's for myself and for use at Church, as well as some nice gifts for family and friends. I would recommend them to all.
Lindstrom Hardware is like a step back in time. This nice hardware store has the friendly service you would expect from the old small-town stores. I went there in 2008 for some supplies I needed. I was able to find what I needed and the prices, although higher than a chain store, were very reasonable. You can't beat the friendly service at the counter. I would recommend them!
We were recommended Boudin Tax Service in 2008 by my brother after we had a horrible experience at a chain store. The service at Boudin was amazing. They worked through our taxes and were able to give us many tips and financial advice. They were professional and helpful despite our case being a complicated one. We will go to them again this year and we highly recommend them to our family and friends.
Ruddy's Rentals has been our go-to place for renting party supplies for our various church events. We have rented a bouncy house and other large games from them. They have a great supply of games as well as a lot of fun party supplies in their store. They are easy to work with. I would recommend them to my family and friends. Call early for the best selection as in the peak seasons their large games go fast!
Joe's pizza is really delicious! They have an amazing homemade recipe that is out of this world! I have been to them many times for dine in, take out, and they even have a "take and bake" option that works great! Joe's prices are average for a family run joint. They are not as cheap as a chain pizzeria, but you won't have the same great taste as Joe's. I have found their service to be average. Tip: Try their garlic sticks...they are amazing.
Waynes Foods Plus is a great place to stop if you are heading through Danbury. I have stopped there many times on my way to our cabin. They are a small store, but they are remodeling and expanding, so they should have even more space and selection in the future. I have always been able to find the basic things I need. The clerks are friendly and pleasant. The prices are reasonable. I would recommend them to others in the area.
Our family has been to the Edgewater Resort and Water Park twice now, and we had a wonderful time! It is such a fun hotel for families. Our kids really enjoyed the room since it had a balcony overlooking Lake Superior. They were able to watch the big ships go by. There were also friendly seagulls flying by. The water park is not huge, but is has a lot of fun things to do. My kids loved the kiddie pool area. They were 3, 2 and 2 at the time of our trip and they did very well going down the slides and playing on everything. There is also a lazy river that is fun to float around in. The service at the hotel was excellent. We even got a free upgrade to a nicer room. Their prices are very reasonable and make for a very affordable family vacation. In addition to the water park there is an outdoor heated pool and a playground. I would highly recommend this hotel to all my family and friends. As a tip I would say to try going in the winter. You will get very very good rates!
