What I like about the locally owned and operated Magnolia Thriftway is their fantastic customer service and reliable quality. This is a great, inexpensive grocery store with frequent sales.
The salespeople at Fusion Beads are very helpful and knowledgeable about their products and the craft of jewelry making. In only a few minutes, they taught me about different clasps and showed me their selection of wire and cutters. They also have great supplies for making key chains and other creative gifts.
Fremont Nails is a great place to get a high-quality manicure or pedicure without paying a ton. The ladies who work there are friendly and walk-ins are welcome. Their french tips last quite a while!
Medin's Ravioli Station offers a great selection of delicate, gourmet ravioli, complimented by appetizers, salads, soups, and a few specialty items. If all the varieties of ravioli look good, go for their sampler so you can try all the different fillings and sauces. My favorite is the smoked salmon ravioli with cheese, scallions, capers and red onion.
I always wondered why people would wait outside for so long on a Saturday morning just for breakfast. The Dish, I've discovered, is well worth the wait... and the free coffee ties you over until you get a table. The menu is solid all-around, but try their hash and hot sauce to really wake you up!
I've tried almost everything on their pasta menu and would definitely recommend it all. The service is fast and the prices are fair. The flexibility in their menu allows for good lunch combos so you can eat a balanced meal. Be sure to try the caprese salad-- their mozzarella is divine and the olive oil with balsamic vinegar dressing is always delicious. If you save room for dessert, grab some gelato and savor every bite.
The Silver Fork is hands-down the best breakfast bargain in the whole city. The classic menu and quick service make dining there a pleasure. There is ample seating inside and plenty of parking.
Shakabrah is a well-known breakfast spot and coffee house. You can always get a hearty breakfast and never have to wait long thanks to all the seating. The omelets are to die for and you can get pretty much any combo with their selection of sides. If you have work or studying to do, this atmosphere works great for that as well.
This is a nice, quaint cafe famous for a good farmer's breakfast. The service is great and the menu is always quality. Be sure to try their huckleberry pancakes!
Mad Pizza is my all-time favorite for their big, savory bread sticks that are made fresh from real pizza dough. The spices they use in their marinara sauce are unlike any I've had and every pizza's crust is chewy and perfectly cooked.
