Yaks Coffee Shop

Redding, CA Coffeehouses 01/10/09: 'Cute ambience, good coffee'

Nice surroundings and good drinks, a great place to sit down and have a quiet drink with friends, read a magazine, etc. Cute furniture, decor. The penguin drink is good (black & white). Offers a stamp card towards free drinks.

Coffee Creek Expresso & Deli

Redding, CA Coffeehouses - Redding, CA Delicatessens 01/10/09: 'Drinks and price okay'

The drinks and prices at this place are fair; it's not my favorite. They do offer a punch card towards free drinks, which is a plus. Drive-thru or sit down.

Java Detour Inc

Redding, CA Coffeehouses 01/10/09: 'Best place for skim milk drinks'

This place makes the best "fat free" (read: with skim milk) drinks, both hot and blended. If you pre-load a card with either $25 or $30, you get a drink for free.

Southward & Assoc

The Southwards have been wonderful to work with over the years, and Jim is great about explaining things and putting "tax stuff" into real words. Even after we left the Bay Area and moved to So Cal, we continued to use their firm, and now that we're back in No. Cal, even though we're almost 5 hours away, we still use them, they are just that great. Totally recommend, what else can I say?

Chocolate Mousse Bakery

San Carlos, CA Bakeries 01/10/09: 'A little pricey, but oh so good!'

Okay, so these guys are a little pricey, but they are just so good I couldn't help but give them 5 stars anyway! Anything we've tried there has been good, but their chocolate ganache cake is like chocolate heaven. Consistently good year after year.

Donut King

Redwood City, CA Doughnuts 01/10/09: 'LOVE this place!'

Have been going in here since my daughter was in grade school. Great family-run establishment, they remember us all these years later, even though we moved away over 9 years ago. They have THE BEST chocolate buttermilk bars we have ever had, great chocolate olf-fashioneds, and their frozen mocha shake is the bomb! And their prices are great! Can't recommend enough!

Nancee's Coffee

Redwood City, CA Diners 01/10/09: 'It's okay'

My mother and aunt really like this place, but I thought it was just okay. No specific complaint, but it didn't knock my socks off, either. On the plus side, they do offer a stamp card towards a free drink.

Mike's Livestock auction

Mira Loma, CA Horses 01/10/09: 'Bad overall'

Mike is very rude and unpleasant to deal with, a real boor. He has no compassion for horses, allowing people to buy separately a mare and foal too young to be weaned; he didn't have to allow it, he chose to. No ethics whatsoever. The only good thing about the auction was Billy, the bareback rider, but he's retired, so I wouldn't even bother to go anymore if we still lived in the area. Mike frequently gets the gender wrong on the small livestock going through, and throws everything in one pen together, so OF COURSE the young goat we bought got bred, then later miscarried. Thanks a lot.

Omni Hotel-San Francisco

Beautiful hotel, nice location, convenient access to coffee, food, shopping. Employees very nice, friendly. Lex, the concierge, was particularly helpful with directions and suggestions of places to shop, visit, etc.

Norco Ranch Outfitters

Norco, CA Saddles - Norco, CA Riding Apparel - Norco, CA Western Wear 01/10/09: 'Go elsewhere if you're over 30'

The staff in here are a bunch of Western cowgirls who are more interested in gossipping at the counter than helping you with your needs if you're over 30, or not spending a thousand bucks. Don't find them particularly knowledgable, although they have tremendous confidence in whatever they say. Great selection, but service is definitely lacking. Bulletin board gets a lot of traffic, so is a good place to post.
