We haven't used this vet hospital as much in recent years because our old vet retired and we've moved, but the care there was always excellent and compassionate, and they have a convenient, centralized location.
VCA Asher Animal Hospital
VCA Asher saved our dog from a very bad snake bite, but he developed a hernia while there that has created lasting problems. Reasonable cost considering the level of care involved.

When our dog was badly bitten by a rattlesnake, VCA Asher (Dr. Tangemann) pulled him through, despite being VERY ill.. While their price for the rattlesnake vaccination is higher than Cottonwood Vet Clinic, if your pet gets a rattlesnake bite and requires treatment, the antivenin is considerably cheaper here. Our one complaint is that while there, our dog developed a hernia that has left him with problems having bowel movement that will last for the remainder of his life (this happened 2.5 years ago).
Redding Black Bear Diner
Every dish tasted excessively salted (there were 3 of us at dinner, so it wasn't a fluke with one plate), low on flavor, and altogether not very tasty or appetizing. We couldn't choke down the rest of it and finished off our appetite at a drive-thru instead. Needless to say, we won't be going back; going across the street to Denny's is a better bet.
CR Gibbs
The food at C.R. Gibbs is quite good, and the atmosphere inside is friendly and welcoming. 4 stars instead of 5 due to being a bit pricey and excessively low lighting-- my mother couldn't read the menu!
Expresso Express
In a world overrun by Starbucks, it's nice to still have a small, personal place like this to get coffee. Good drinks and prices, quick, easy hop on and off freeway to grab a drink, and also close to Anderson River Park-- convenient place to grab a drink on your way on or off the water.
Oxford Suites Redding
When relatives come to visit from out of town and we run out of space at home, they head to the Oxford Suites-- it's clean, comfortable, employees are friendly and helpful, and the breakfast is great. Easy freeway access, and close to mall, grocery store, pharmacy, etc.
Avant Card
Store has a good, central location by Union Square & Chinatown. Nice cards. Cards and designs you won't find other places, be sure to give them a look.

Excellent chiropractor for both people and horses! (Runs in the family, his cousin is awesome as well.) Well worth the commute from Norco to San Clemente for a visit. Gave us some very good exercises, as well as some very effective sleeping herbs.
Hong Kong Express
Prices are fair, and the food here is okay, no particular complaints, but if you're already at this location, just go a little up the street to Magic Wok instead, the food is better.
