The Millennium Harvest House is an elegant hotel in downtown Boulder near CU. They have nice ballrooms and conference facilities, spacious rooms, and a great restaurant. I really appreciate, too, that they do nice things such as offering discount rates to locals who have been evacuated from their homes for fires and the like. The best part about the location is that it backs right up to the Boulder Creek Path, so a pleasant run, walk, or bike ride is just outside the door.
Evans Plunge is quite possibly the coolest water park I have visited. It's not a big park with rides or anything like that, but this small park has really awesome slides, including one that is so steep it makes your stomach drop. The water is naturally heated mineral spring water-- it's not too warm, but it's quite comfortable. Evans Plunge is a great place to take the family any time of year if you are out in this part of South Dakota
The West Wendover KOA is a pretty nice KOA. While the spots are close together as is typical for a KOA, and there's no grass because it's Nevada, they have set up some decent spots and have some walls and shrubbery to provide a bit of privacy. They even have a mini golf course here.
Bongo Billy's Buena Vista Cafe is a great cafe that has a nice selection of sandwiches, salads, soups, and baked goods in addition to tea, coffee, and other beverages. There's not a ton of seating, but there is usually room enough to find a table. The service here is efficient and friendly.
Cabin Fever Quilts and More is a well-stocked, large quilt shop. They have a good selection of fabrics and other patterns and accessories. They have a very nice room in back where classes are conducted. The staff all love quilting, so they are an excellent resource and happy to share their expertise.
Thread Bear Quilts is a great little quilting shop in Longmont-- it's slightly hidden, but definitely worth checking out. They have a wonderful selection of fabric as well as patterns and accessories. The staff is friendly and helpful.
Eads News and Smoke Shop has many newspapers and magazines as well as paperback books. While it doesn't have the selection of a full-fledged bookstore, it's a nice place to pick up a thing or two when you're out of reading material. Its central location just across from the 29th Street area is nice.
Higher Grounds is a nice little independent coffee shop. It's a great place to meet up with a friend or to study. The location is great, too-- very near Mines and downtown Golden.
Gateway Park Fun Center, located at the north end of Boulder, has quite a few fun offerrings-- go carts, batting cages, mini golf, driving range, human maze, . . . the activities can get a little pricey, but I think they have some multiple-activity deals. The mini golf has a nice setup, with plenty of multi-level holes and cute themes. Gateway is a good place to come with the whole family.
The Gondolier is a fun Italian restaurant conveniently located on Pearl Street in downtown Boulder. They have quite a good selection of soups, salads, pasta, pizza, sandwiches and more. The servers are friendly, and the food arrives quickly. Overall, I would definitely recommend the Gondolier for a delicious Italian meal.
