I purchased a vehicle in July of 2008 and was very satisfied until picking up my 2006 PT Cruiser convertible with just 15,200 miles .Our first inspection of the vehicle(in the daylight) reveled missing seat control covers knobs and spots on upholstery, upon lifting back seats to the storage position found this area not satisfactory. Also the front tires seemed to be quite worn , all ( but tires) were completed to our satisfaction. Upon driving the (Certified Pre-Owned Vehicle) home from the dealers for the first all gauges and computer functions cut out while my wife was driving and vehicle stalled which causes loss of power steering and power brakes plus other things making vehicle very difficult to operate plus dangerous to happen while on the highway. Thinking it was not a big problem she re-started the vehicle all seemed to fine and drove the car for awhile until returning home. The next day I went out tho check and started the vehicle and drove for an hour before this occur ed again and would continue very frequently for the approx. 3 months (no fault of the service dept.) during this time the dealer had our vehicle more then we did trying to determine what causing the issue. During this time warranty covered the repaired and we were provided a rental car but the additional insurance is not covered in the cost so if you decide to take it the cost is $15.00 to $20,00 a day and if you have the car for weeks at a time this costs hundreds of dollars for something that is the dealers responsibility, plus the inconvenience of being without your own vehicle and when you do get it back ,when was it going to happen again.Due to being unemployed at this time we decided not take the rental vehicle after asking the dealer would they pick up this cost and they refused. After months of searching for the problem the vehicle had a remote starter and an additional security system plus wheels chrome trim and a few other trim options installed after vehicle was purchased by the original owners.Upon disconnecting the remote starter and security system the problem of cutting out ceased and has not returned to this day. Through out this 3 month period my wife and I were never anything but pleasant and accommodating for the time without our vehicle, time spent dealing with the issue on the road and just the overall inconvenience of this whole issue. At one point I was frustrated enough and asked to trade even up for another vehicle comparable and was told I would take a beating on the trade-in (which a month later had went from $14,600 sale price to $8000 trade-in) based on depreciation. After running good for a few weeks I was in the dealership for service I asked what was going to be done to reconnect the remote start and security system disconnected to correct the original issue and was told by the owner that these parts were not factory made or installed by factory or dealer technicians so it was not the responsibility of the dealership to replace them but I could order them through the dealer(at not reduced cost) and pay to have them reinstalled at a cost of over $1000.00( for options just paid for with car purchase and was told by the owner these accessories should have been removed before placing the car on the lot BUT THEY WERE NOT AND SOLD WITH THE CAR) Throughout all this mess I received a few free oil changes ( which I think I paid for in my extended service contract) for our inconvenience, in addition while having this vehicle at the this dealership to find and repair problem I again mentioned to the service dept the condition of the front tires and after conferring with owner service dept. informed me if I felt the needed to be replaced to do so. That day I searched for tire priced and scheduled an appointment for the next day to have them installed. While tires were being installed I received a call from the dealer telling me to bring my vehicle down and they would install new tires on my vehicle for free. Upon contacting the tire store my new tires were already mounted and installed and my vehicle ,while picking up my vehicle the MGR of the store told me there were issued in the front end and an alignment should be done or these tires will do the same thing.Contacting the dealership again I was directed to bring in the bill for the new tires and the dealer would reimburse me for this ex pence. The following day I return to the car dealer with my receipt and the manager asks me where are the old tires because he can not pay for the tires without the old ones. I return to the tire dealer and you guessed it my old tires were picked up that morning and are no longer available. when returning this dealer mgr. refused to pay for the tires and gave me another 5 free oil changes.AGAIN WOULD JUST LIKE TO SAY SERVICE DEPARTMENT WAS OUTSTANDING. I give how this entire process was handled by this dealerships upper management/Owner no number is low enough.
