Pete is a slick man. He will meet with you at any time that is convenient to you. Is very upfront and "tells it like it is". However, once he started working on my $20 some odd thousand back yard, he got very busy trying to win other business and work on other houses, rather than complete my job. I had to call him on many occasions to get him to come back. He promised that if we referred people, we would get a free tree or other backyard item. Three neighbors used him AFTER coming into my backyard unannounced, and did we get anything? Nope. Also, while in the middle of the work, we got held up with our permits because he had not renewed licence. This is my bad, because that is when I should have known better and dropped him. I had to go to city hall with him and sign the permits myself. So, my backyard is cracking, we do not have adequate shade cover due to his poor advising, and the colored concrete is already faded after a year. He talks a nice talk, but don't let it fool you. Find another contractor.
My husband is a carnivore. But, I choose veggie whenever possible. I have been eating at the Sunflower for over 20 years. Their nutburger is the BEST. And, the shakes are amazing. My husband likes the falafel and tacos (I have tried them, and they are good), but again, the Nutburger is the BEST! Actually, the millet burger is pretty good too. If you have room (after the main course and a shake) try their chips and salsa. Also very good. This place is a walk-up stand. It is surrounded by picnic tables and chickens (live chickens which roam all over the Village)...so know that you might want to pick up and take home, or go around the corner for a picnic in the park.
This is one of the places I take people out for a special occassion. The setting is comfortable and cozy, a little dark, but really sets the mood. I have eaten lamb, meatloaf, chicken and pork (with the horseradish mashed potatoes of course) and each time it has been a home run. The price you pay for such a delicious and classy meal could not be better. Great great place!
Jack's is a great place to get a fresh carved meat sandwich or a huge, made to order salad with or without fresh roasted meat. I love that you can split a salad and a side dish (love their mac and cheese and their fries) and have a beer and be completely full, and feel like you did not over do it on the calories. Reasonably priced and the people working there are always very nice.
This is a great place to get designer kids clothes at half the cost. I have bought my toddler girls tons of Gymboree, Janie and Jack, Donna Karan, Guess and Diesel clothes at a fraction of the full or sale price. She also carries cute hanging fairy decorations that change with the seasons which my kids adore. I have purchased some toys and maternity clothes there as well. It is located in cute, old Fair Oaks. Really, a hidden gem.
What can I say? I love Ettores. They have the best cookies, brownies, breads, cakes, and chocolates. But, they also have such good food. Want a hamburger? Their's is amazing. So are their soups and sandwiches and salads, and breakfasts on the weekends. Whenever I have a special event and I need to bring something special, I stop here to bring the best.
Like the reviewer previous to me...this is a great place to go on an intimate date, or out with the whole family and kids. The menu is diverse, but sticks with being very Italian. They have a great bar and wine list, and save room for some of their yummy pastries and desserts.
My husband and I do not like going to the dentist, and we were new to the area. Dr Abri was covered in our medical plan and he was close to our house so we decided to try him. He is so calm, genuine in his concerns, patient, and makes you feel so comfortable being there. He even checked out my 2 year old daughter after spoiling her with balloons, water bottles and lots of attention for free. She loved him, and she hates going to the doctor. We will continue to go to him as a family as long as we are living here.
I have had breakfast there twice, once with my friend, and once with my two toddlers. Both times the food was very good, and the service was fast and thoughtful. While we were waiting for our meals on one occasion, the waitress brought cheerios and crayons to keep the kids happy. Both times we split omlette's and I appreciated that they split them on the plates for us without charging extra.
Now I live in S. CA. and miss my Santa Cruz or my Surfin Bird. I have been going there since the original (Beach House Deli) opened YEARS ago. I have only had the sandwiches, although I think their are other menu items. Everyone I have ever taken there has had the same cravings for more as I have. I highly recommend this place.
