Cheap eats. Social spot. This place lost some ground with the smoking ban - used to be one of the few restaurants folks who loved to smoke would go to socialize. Still a favorite for the trucker crowd or veterans clubs to get some good grub from some solid waitresses. Place offers a nice meal that usually includes salad bar (includes hearty soups usually), meal, and dessert -- all for around $8-9 usually. The fish fry is amazing. Don't go expecting silver and linen and you'll enjoy yourself.
Swank metro feel. The place makes you think you're dining in Manhattan with its white, white walls, industrial metal tables, and modern lighting and wait-staff dressed in black. The fact that the place is owned by the Pretender's Chrissie Hynde's is played down nicely with just some photos of the band on the wall. The music to dine to was pretty fun, generic stuff instead of a steady stream of Pretenders. Loved the design and feel of the place.
AND THE FOOD WAS PHEN-OM-EN-AL!!
My vegiterian friend said she'd never had so many amazing choices. The "chicken" and "sausage" are highly recommended for a reason. We enjoyed some root vegetable chips for an appetizer. The portobello stuffed mushrooms were super-tasty. The chicken pizza was a favorite. Tomato pesto soup got raves, too. We even loved the cheeseless cheesecake. YUM!
Our waiter was fun and made all kinds of super recommendations. The place may be a little on the pricey side for the Akron area, but we found it totally worth it! You may even see Chrissie Hyndes float in once in awhile or catch some live music, I hear.
Friendly folks. Decent jukebox music. The place has a small stage in the front and a tiny room for a DJ next to a patch of a dance floor with some nice wall mirrors. Pulls some live, local music. Look for the naked, Parisian mermaid bicycle ad that is framed - its very sexy cute Tends to draw a kinky, pansexual crowd which is a nice change of pace.
The Police activities clubs were started in Cleveland, and the EPAL center in Eastlake is one of the best in the nation as far as space and amenities.
The center is available daily to local kids and provides a computer lab, pool tables, basketball gym, and fun computer games like Wii and Dance Revolution. The center sponsors fishing derbies, pool tournaments, Captains game and Indians events and much more throughout the year. The club is sponsored by scholarship and donations so its available FREE to local youth. You couldn't ask for a better bang for your buck.
Officer Don Little and Coordinator Babett's love for youth is instantly apparent. They run the place along with the help of a handful of dedicated volunteers and chaperones.
Friday nights are the very popular PAL Teen Dances. For a $5 donation, kids can hang out with their friends and dance to the latest spin from a professional DJ.
The center also has been known to offer some amazing community services including free school supplies for needy students and a store for needy parents to shop free at the holidays.
CFG offers a broad spectrum of products with a broad array of experience. You can call and request to work with any of the in-house agents who can set up an appointment to work out a personalized financial plan for you or your business. Everyone I worked with was trustworthy, knowledgeable, and professional.
Larry Kronick runs a tight ship. The equity department offers a nice library of fund information to help their agents keep on top of the best investments. The corporate benefits team has the experience of the super-tall Bob Cianciola who has been working in corp benefits for 20-some odd years.
Plus, they are right in the Eton collection plaza, so you can stop for books or coffee or a quick run through Trader Joes when you are done.
Female dentists are few and far between. Good dentists are just as rare. To find both in one is worth paying the the extra price. Dr Petti sat me down the first time we met and listened as we discussed my dental concerns, then explained that her practice tends to run above customary dentist costs. I've been with her for the last 4 years. Luckily, my dental insurance covers most of the costs, but I still average an extra $100 or so a year out-of-pocket which is worth every penny!
I love the sounds the little cavity-finding sonar-thing she uses makes - but I wish the sounds didn't mean I was verging on having more work done (pout, pout). I always walk out of the cleanings with a new toothbrush. Her dental assistant also is a lot of fun, gentle, and sweet.
I wish there were more female OB-GYNs. Dr Sundaresh has been my OB-GYN for 10 years. She is a short, Indian powerhouse! I believe her practice is now closed. Her husband runs the pediatrician office down the hall in the Euclid Medical Plaza which always struck me as a little ironic (she brings them into the world, then he makes sure they stay healthy). She's a no-nonsense doc who knows to warm the speculum before use and will give you the best physical you've had in years. Her staff does a great job of managing the paperwork and I've never had issues with them working with my insurance carrier.
This place is HUGE. Complete with amazing fountains and gorgeous Chinese sculptures. The buffet is an astounding 5 sections. Kids love this place and there's no worries about them running into other diners because the place is almost never full. Probably because the buffet itself can be mediocre. I've been here 4 times and just never been really impressed. The buffet is a little pricey and with all the other Chinese options nearby, the reason to go here has nothing to do with the food.
Definitely a dine-in place. Just wish the food made me want to go back repeatedly.
Right on Euclid in front of Gabriel Brothers/Big Lots, this spot offers great standard fare chinese takeout in a McDonald's-like atmosphere. The menu is even on a light up wall above the counter as you walk in the front door. The dining area looks like an after thought with commercial chairs and tables in a a very dull open room to the left of the counter.
More of a take-out place than a dine-in. Price is good. Food is good.
In the plaza on the corner of 306 and Mentor Ave, this place is the best Thai food in Cleveland. Phenomenal food, affordable prices, beautiful dining area. Fabulous vegetarian choices.
