I was newly married and excited about the prospect of making a family with my new husband but found out I had an obstacle to overcome. My doctor found a cantaloupe size fibroid that was occupying and distorting the space in my uterus. I came to Amelia (she was recommended by a friend who now has a healthy 6 month old) to discuss my options and future fertility. Having just turned 38 yrs old, I wanted to get her perspective on my condition and future. My first meeting with her was amazing; I learned more about my own fertility in that one appointment than I had ever learned before. She set up a plan for me to follow (nutritional changes, exercise regimen and charting my cycle) before my surgery and to follow afterward to prepare me and my body for conception. The myeomectomy was successful and I now have a welcome environment for a baby to grow. Unfortunately, Amelia is leaving the Center of Balance so I will not be able to work with her but I feel very prepared with the tools she taught me to continue on my journey. If I could describe my experience with her in one sentence, I would say that she gave me tremendous hope and helped me realize that much of my potential fertility has to do with how I live my life and the choices I make. I've been making better choices ever since and feel great! Good luck to all of you!
