I can't eat dairy, but I love this place. I go over a few times a year for parties and they are wonderful! So helpful and knowledgeable about everything. Even though I can't eat it, it is a big hit at all my parties. If you are ever looking for a new kind of cheese or just something different, be sure to go to Venissimo. They know their stuff!
I stopped in to Storm on two different occasions. one was to order flowers for a funeral. They refused to deliver, so I left. The second time was to pop in and check out some lamps they had sitting outside. They were pricey and the worker was very rude. I wasn't dressed super nice, but still looked presentable. I had really wanted the lamps, even though they were pricey. The rude attitude towards me caused me not to purchase them. If you can't treat your customers nice in the store, who knows how the flowers you order will be treated.
The Lamplighter is a super low key dive bar that most people wouldn't go to unless they lived close, except for it has karaoke. It gets the crowds in and is a ton of fun. The drinks are pretty cheap and there is a pool table and a couple of TVs. The only crappy thing about the Lamplighter is the ridiculous cover charge they make you pay on Saturdays. Also they allow way more than fire capacity in and won't let you get your cover back once you walk in and find there is no room.
The Sausage King is family run by German immigrants. I love that they import tons of German items you won't normally find in stores, like chocolates, candies, cakes and various spices. Along with all that they sell fresh handmade sausages in all shapes, sizes, and flavors. They also sell sandwiches, breads and fresh ground meat. It is all cash based and they have the best old register I have ever seen in use.
This place went in near my house and close to another popular sushi place. Seeing the line for the other place, we decided to try it out. We now eat there weekly. It has the best sushi in town and at great prices. The service is great and they remember you. The seaweed salad is a must, along with their Triple J roll. If you like sushi, you will LOVE it after going here.
Salon Avalon is great. I went there as a walk in and after using 2 ladies(I don't make appointments), I stuck with one. Sara is just great. She is friendly, on time and willing to work with my tangled mess! She is willing to state her opinion and works with me on getting a hair style that meets the demands of my life. They aren't pushy with their products. The receptionist is fabulous. Always smiling and a joy to talk to on the phone.
All the hairdressers are fun and stylish. They really pay attention to what you want to do with your look and help you achieve it. They aren't pushy with products either. The other side of the salon has a cute boutique going on. Great for special gifts.
I started taking my puppy there when I first got her. The entire staff has just been wonderful, especially her vet, Dr. Olsen. She takes time with her, explains everything to me, answers all my questions and genuinely seems to love the animals. The groomer is also excellent. She is great with my dog, especially since my dog hates getting her nails trimmed.
I walked in and thought I was in heaven. I own tons of design books and they had such a variety, I easily spent the afternoon there. If I could, I would go every week. The vast amount of art, architecture, design oriented books is just mind boggling. They also have a nice selection of cards and sketchbooks. The staff is very friendly. If going, make sure you don't have anything else to do for the day. You will need the time.
We stumbled upon Peter Miller Books early one morning. It was cold and nothing was open. He saw us standing outside looking in and opened early for us. The selection was amazing. I own a TON of design books and he had tons more I didn't own or hadn't seen yet. If you get a chance or are looking for a gift for a design friend, go here!
