East West is a great source for casual wear. The 'appropriate' term is street wear, but really, it's just casual stuff. I'm a huge fan of their tanks and tees and have never had a problem.
I love the clothes from Wild Ride Fashions! Fun, fashionable and affordable. My best friend introduced me to their stuff and I can't get enough.
I still love the Pixie Dust Boutique! My aunt had my little cousin's 6th birthday party there and we had a lot fun! It was a girls only tea party that I thought was hokey at first, but it was very girly and fun. My little cousin loved every minute of it and I have to say, so did I. The people at Pixie Dust made a fuss over everybody which was nice. I wouldn't mind going back.
I bought the cutest baby hat I've ever seen at Little Dickens. My mom loves this shop and goes there for the christening outfits for the babies in our family. I've been there often enough to know what they have and when my cousin asked me to be godmother to her baby, I knew where I had to go for the little princess birthday crown. This is a neat store, but it's on the spendy side.
VIP Nails did one of the better jobs as far as pedicures is concerned in my opinion. I was able to relax and enjoy the entire experience while being pampered. A lot of times when I'm soaking or being worked on I feel rushed. I didn't feel that at all here. I may even go back again, which says a lot!
Two of my aunts go to Aroma and have nice enough looking nails to make me want to see how they would do for me. The lady who did my pedicure never uttered a word to me while I was sitting there. At the end of the service, another lady came over to give me the price, which I thought was odd. I'm not sure if the woman working on my spoke English or not, but all I can say is my toes looked great!
I couldn't find anything exceptional about New Exceptional Nails. I'm not hard on the nail salons I go to. All I ask is that they take me in a timely manner, they are clean and do a nice job. This salon did take me in a timely manner (within 10 minutes of walking in with no appointment), but they failed on the next two points. Clean? Cluttered and messy is more like it. Nice job? Well, they cut two nails much shorter than the rest and gave me a hard time about it when I insisted they fix the mistake. Their idea of a fix? Cutting down all the rest. They got the idea when I practically shrieked and pulled my hands away. They even tried to charge me for the acrylic to lengthen the nails they chopped off. Whatever.
When I need a pick me up, I opt for a mani or pedi and sometimes both. In this particular case, a pedi did the trick. Nina's Advanced Nail is where I went for my fix. The pedi was nice, the warm sudsy water soothed away a lot of my stress and the massage was nice (but not long enough). The polishing was on the sloppy side, so I had to ask for a do over on one of my toes and clean up on several others. Did I get what I needed? Kind of, but I think they could have done a better job.
When my West Coast aunt in the magazine industry gave me the opportunity to do some research for her, I jumped at the chance! How cool is it to try out various salons and write user reviews? Jessie Nails was one of the salons I tried out for the research. This is a small salon, but clean and tidy as far as I could tell. They weren't busy when I was there and seated me right away. I thought they could have spent more time with the soaking part of my manicure and the massage part as well. My nails looked nice when everything was over with.
When I realized that my polish was going to clash with the outfit I was planning on wearing to a party, I had to get my nails redone - and fast. Fancy Finger was the closest salon to where I was staying, so they were it. I called first to make sure they were open and could take me. Since the wait was about 15 minutes, it worked out great. That's how long it took me to drive there, park and walk in. Good as their word, they took me and changed the offending color to a French manicure and sent me on my way.
