We used Gordon Movers based on a recommendation from a friend. We only moved about 10 miles, from Rancho Santa Margarita to Ladera Ranch. We packed ourselves. Our problem was with the care of the movers....they slammed a couch into a wall (of a newly constructed house), causing a huge dent...they placed their tools on our furniture while they assembled the bed (leaving scratches all over the top of the nightstands), and they broke a shelf in our china cabinet. They sent a guy to try to fix the wall, he did a horrible job and had the worst attitude I've ever seen. Luckily our home builder was nice enough to repair it for us. We were reimbursed for the glass and about $60 for the scratches on the nightstand.
Dr. Morris is the 3rd doctor I've seen in this group. He is great -- was on time, very no-nonsense, but with a sense of humor. I was in and out of their office quickly, including x-rays, which was great because I had my 2 kids with me. Gave me a bunch of samples so I wouldn't have to buy the prescription. Also gave me a good price on the elbow brace I needed, rather than go through insurance, which is more expensive and not usually covered.
I went to Dr. Evangelista after the orthopedic surgeon in the group couldn't help me. Dr. E. is a "pain management specialist." Which to me sounds like they can't really fix the problem but will try to help you live comfortably with it. Unfortunately the standard treatments for my back (physical therapy and epidural steroid injections) didn't work. Dr. E. provided a medication that I was wary of because of reported side effects. Still looking for the great orthopedic doctor who can help me with my back problems!
Dr. Waldman is a respected back surgeon...I'm just not sure I can give him a full recommendation. I think it's just that he doesn't have a very warm personality. Also, I had scheduled an epidural injection and was prepped and ready at the surgery center, waiting on Dr. Waldman. He called about 45 minutes AFTER my scheduled time to say he wasn't going to make it. So I left and tried to find another doctor. I hear he's a good surgeon...I never got that far with him.
We saw Dr. Mersch in Ladera Ranch, I think he is permanently in that office now. He was wonderful and funny with my (very shy) 4 year old daughter. He even had her laughing, and given how lousy she was feeling, that is no small feat. Doesn't jump to prescribe medication. I really like Dr. Mersch.
This place did an adequate job cleaning, not anything spectacular. Still trying to find that great dry cleaner. The reason this place only got two stars is this: When they found out that the other dry cleaner in Ladera is closing their doors due to the economy, Terrace Cleaners raised their prices. They boldly told one customer that they raised prices because they knew more people would be coming to them since the View Cleaners was closing. In this economic climate, that really turned me off.
I really enjoy Jalapeno's. The shredded beef taco (the measure I use for all Mexican restaurants) is great. The chips are too greasy for my taste, but everything else is always really good!
Partyopolis is a great place to have birthday parties. They have HUGE bounce houses/slides/obstacle courses, and a lounge area for parents. Also a small area for little ones to play. We've had two birthday parties there - all kids were sweaty and exhausted at the end - the sign of a successful party! The only negative thing is that they are contracted with a certain pizza place, so that is your only option for serving food (you can bring salad and water). Great management, run by parents!
Most of the stars are for the atmosphere here. Food is good, but not spectacular. Just good Mexican food! I love to sit out on the patio and enjoy a few margaritas in the canyon.
Game On is a great addition to the community. They have a little shop up front for games and gaming supplies, and the back is set up with several different tvs and gaming systems (Wii, Playstation, XBox). You pay by the hour and play away. They also have fantastic birthday parties, you rent the whole gaming area in the back and the guests play...then they have pizza from Z Pizza (across the parking lot). They will also custom make a cake for your child, featuring your child's face on their favorite game (like Indiana Jones, with your child's face). The owner, Chris, is also very very nice!
