When I lived here, this place was hands down the best dim sum in all of San Fran. Even better than some dim sum that I've had in Hong Kong! I expected the dim sum to taste like it used to but it was different. It was not as I remembered. Maybe it was a change in chefs, or the management??s vision/goals. From the taste of it, I think it's more friendlier to people who's afraid of real Chinese food. For those who are newbies or for those who are less adventurous, this restaurant serves as a great intro to dim sum.
The first time I was introduced to this place it was for drinks after an office party. From that evening on, I??ve been hooked. Since then, I've moved up the corporate ladder, switched companies, moved across the country, and remain a loyal patron whenever I visit San Fran or Miami. For those who have not been here, it is similar to a lot of Asian fusion restaurants that have sprung up in the last fifteen years from the west coast to the east coast, but something about this place always makes me feel like my day is complete. Ambiance : dimly lit, slightly pretentious, high energy, and tolerable noise level. Food : consistently delicious. Though it is not authentic, they certainly serve some fine fusion dishes.
It's always a toss-up where to stay in San Francisco but the St. Francis is one of my preferred choices. You can take a wonderful evening stroll after work, enjoy a number of restaurants within the area and, if you prefer not to walk, take the cable car. A cable car stop is located right outside the hotel. Also they have some of the most beautiful suites in the city. Also there are chandeliers - yes, chandeliers. This hotel is older compared to other hotels in San Francisco.
At my first stay, the room that I initially booked was too small. The management took care of this immediately. They had no problems upgrading me to a suite instantly and it didn't cost me an arm and a leg. The views of the city below is spectacular. The decor is a bit boring. The look of the lobby and rooms seems uninspired (in a "stately" kind of way), but certainly, this is not a "boutique" designer hotel, so it doesn't make that much of a difference.
The pizza is pretty good! The establishment is clean. I like their white pizza. Their pepperoni and sausage pizza is also good.
It's a great ambiance for family groups who want to feed kids on a good inexpensive pizza or groups coming from sport outings. Patio a ++.
A friend of mine recommended Dr. Pechera after an awful visit with another dentist. She was great. I had no pain and she did what she said she would do. The other dentist did other procedures that I did not ask for and then charged them on my account. On top of that, it hurt like heck. I had no pain with Dr. Pechera and was so happy I took my friend out to dinner.
