When I was a student at BU, I ate here all the time. They make the food fresh to order and it's always hot and yummy. They've got free hot tea for you to enjoy. You've gotta try the Pad Kee Mao!
I remember when Boardriders was Jaron's and so whenever I am there I feel like it is a restaurant trying to be a bar. The bar is tiny in comparison to the space, which can make it hard to get a drink. The ambiance isn't great, but the bartenders are good and the prices are right.
I've only ever been to this bar once all the others in Kailua are closed, so my judgment may be a bit skewed! They do charge a $7 cover on Friday and Saturday nights, but they almost always have a decent live band playing and they are the only place open until 4.
I got spoiled with amazing Thai food in Boston while I was there for school. As far as Kailua goes, Saeng's is the best place to go for good thai food. I love their Evil Prince Vegetables or Chicken and the cashew nut chicken is awesome too. Definitely worth a trip.
This place has a small, simple menu...but everything on it is delicious. I really love the red curry grilled fish and the Kalua pork sandwich. You definitely need to stop in and give it a try.
I've been going to Dr. Beavers for over 8 years. I moved away for a bit and came back to find my new job's dental insurance wasn't accepted at his office. I was willing to pay the out-of-pocket expenses because I did not want to go anywhere else...that's how good he and his staff are. They ended up enrolling with my insurance company so as to not lose me as a customer. The office manager makes you feel like you are the most important person in the world and the hygienists are fantastic. Dr. Beavers is friendly, calm, and explains everything. If you are looking for a dentist, this is where to go!
This place is a tiny little hole in the wall...so if you have a big group it's definitely best to do take out (I think they have a new larger 2nd location now). Some people shy away from holes in the wall, I try to find the ones that are worth discovering. This place has the best Thai food and great prices. Their Pad Kee Mao is so amazing that I have not been able to find another place that makes it as good anywhere. They also have an amazing Panang Curry. If you love thai food, you have to eat here.
You will not be disappointed for lunch or dinner...they have different menus for both. They have an amazing tomato salad on special once in awhile that is a must try. Their homemade raviolis are delicious and the gnocchi is perfection! You will not be disappointed.
This little market is full of charm and has a great small town feel to it. Even if you just need to pick up some ice or drinks for the beach, you should stop in. Grab a cup of joe while you are there and mingle with the locals who are always around for a chat. And, of course, their sandwiches are delicious. They have gotten a little pricey on their sandwiches over the years, but they are still worth it. The Kailua Club or Turkey Reuben are the way to go!
The chefs here have a small, simple menu...but everything on it is delicious. I don't even particularly care for bacon, but the bacon-wrapped fig salad is amazing. Their bruschettas are a perfect way to start any meal, I had one with white beans on it that was fantastic. I tend to order one of their specials for the evening and have never been disappointed. It can get a bit warm inside, so try to sit outside if you can.
