Barefoot Books is a catalog/retail bookseller. We have ordered a number of their books for our school library. Their representatives are very helpful if you are researching a topic or particular book. The retail store is located in Porter Square in Cambridge.
This is a longtime family business that offers a quality selection and great service. I have also had repairs done here. The staff is amazingly helpful and friendly.
Rugged Bear is a large store with a great selection. They carry everything from infants' layette items to clothes for 10 year olds. Good choices for winter outerwear, gift items, and hard-to-find specialty clothing.
This is a nice shop with a great selection. You can find things here that you will not find at larger stores. They have unique and classic pieces and a helpful staff.
This is a fabulous bookstore! Hooray for the independent bookseller and the service it offers. There is a huge selection here, a full wall of staff recommendations, a children's section, and a warm and friendly staff. You can browse or sit for hours.
This is a neat little shop in a restored barn. There is a great selection of furniture (new and shabby), decorative items (lamps, artwork), candles, and small gift items. It's a great spot to browse and prices are very reasonable.
Moor & Mountain is a hidden gem in this area. The owner is a longtime resident, very involved with the Bay Circuit Trail, and an avid outdoorsman. They are well-stocked with all types of equipment for outdoor activity and have good maps for all of the area trails. They also rent equipment at very inexpensive rates.
I love going to the Garrison on a Sunday afternoon. They have a nice shop, snack bar, and clean restrooms. The course is pretty, well-kept, and challenging for those who want a good par 3 course.
This is a family-owned nursery with many years of experience. Several generations of the Konjoian family work here. Their plants, trees, and shrubs are the best. I have purchased many perennials, annuals, and some trees and shrubs as gifts for friends. They have solid advice on planting and care. The prices are a bit higher than the big box stores and roadside stands, but you get quality products and information.
I have taken a number of classes at this studio and found it very soothing. It is located in an out-of-the way spot in a strip mall in Tewksbury, but you will not even notice once you are inside. The rooms are spacious, decor is calming, instructors are very good. The cost is slightly below average, but you get a lot for your money.
