East Hampton, CT
I wrote the review "WOW! Is #1 With Me" back in 2006 as "Shirley M" (now I am "Shirley R." due to taking my maiden name back after getting divorced) and, I have to say, I still feel the same! In fact, I moved to East Hampton from Middletown last Fall and I make the drive over the river every day/every other day to work out there! I have been working out there since January 2002, and have never had any problems with any of the staff, or other members. I go in, mind my own business, do my workout & leave. I am very serious about my weight training, and when I am lifting I am in my own little world; I don't pay any mind to what other people are doing or saying.
I feel the monthly fee is reasonable...I pay $32 a month plus tax, and my 18 year-old-son is on my membership and his monthly dues are $10 a month because he did that $99 down, $10 a month deal they had going on last Spring. So between the 2 of us it's $42 and change a month. As for the trainers, they did have some great trainers in the past and I am not familiar with the "newbies" that are there now, nor do I need a trainer because I am a personal trainer myself! As for the manager, I think Dennis is a great guy and he is doing an excellent job running the gym. As for the owner, he's in & out of his gyms, I hardly ever see him but when he does see me he always smiles and says "hello". In regards to the childcare, I haven't kept up with what's going on with that because it is not a concern for me as my kids are 18 & 12.
All in all the point I'm trying to make is to those that are coming on here & complaining about the gym, do all of us who are *not* complaining about it and who are serious about our workouts, a favor and don't go back! If you're one of those who only joined the gym to try and pick up men/women, go to a bar or check out online dating!
