I come here all the time because I know the food is delicious and the service is typically on its best behavior. I either get the fajitas or the enchiladas. Once I got the carne asada and it was cooked to perfection. Would recommend anyone to this place over anywhere else for Mexican. Best in it's class!
This is one of the few Chinese places in the area. Since Fast Wok changed management I prefer this place. They are not strictly carry out, but act mostly as such. I have been several times with friends and by myself for their sweet and sour chicken, which never disappoints. Sometimes I do find myself waiting longer than I would expect, but the food is better than some places.
Making up for the inherent lack of authentic Chinese culture along 7th and H NW, this DC joint is a hit with all my friends and family. They have all the dishes you would expect from typical Chinese places and then the more authentic from China Chinese dishes. I stick with the Tso's myself, but the free tea and the soups are always more delectable than other places. I would recommend it as a stop after a game or something at Verizon. Top notch Chinese.
I was blown away by the sheer amount of space this place had. I am a cigar man so I made my way upstairs. They closed the cigar area earlier than the rest of the joint, so that was odd, but for a Saturday night the upstairs was very relaxing, given how many people were downstairs. So you have a set of people who drink and talk, drink and dance, or drink and smoke. A pretty nice set up. I will come again for sure.
I have eaten sushi all around the place, particularly MD, and it is a close match between this place and Sushi Sono. This place wins because they have a roll I love, called the Richard Leisure Roll. They also win because the service is usually quick and the sushi is very well presented and delicious. You need to go if you like sushi...sadly it is not as well known but is worth the trip.
This is the definition of a 'hole in the wall' joint if I have ever seen one. The outside is deceiving...part of a strip mall on a high speed US route next to a vacuum store. But go in and the quaint small space has a very welcoming staff, friendly sushi chef, and great sushi. What the other Columbia places make up for with their pizazz and specialty rolls is the quality of the simpler 'real' rolls. Tuna and salmon, and eel and octopus -- the sushi is so fresh and it has a distinctively different taste that is very good. I have never had an issue here and most of all, it's the cheaper alternative. This is one of the 3 places I would give 5/5 too in the Columbia area
Try the spicy crunchy tuna roll, it is not always listed, but they will make it for you...so good!! The waiting service, as the others have noted is to be desired...it is slow and sometime unfriendly. Then they rush you out. But that being said, they have been friendly and lax other times. I think this is the second best place after Sushi King in the area
The first time my mother and I went it was a great time, I too experienced the Karaoke night and the service was good. The second time though, the waitress rarely came by, my steak was mooing, not medium rare, and my grandmother's margarita was far too strong to be enjoyable. I would say it is a mixed bag with relatively ordinary food. My suggestion, go on karaoke night!
Friendly service and an easy to navigate website, this store has a lot of years and accreditation to back it. The staff can be a little kooky, but they are always willing to help and answer your questions. The only reliable coin dealer in the area I would say.
I have come to this place a few times. I am quite the sushi bar traveler and I know good service when I see it. I have sat the tables and at the bar and the waiters and chefs are good at what they suggest. The sushi chef let me try the different eels to see if I liked one over the other free of charge. The food tastes fresh and it is about the same price as any other place. The only thing that is a little off-putting is it is seemingly always empty, even when I pass it. I can only comment on the lunch hours though. One of the only places for Japanese in walking distance downtown.
