Nino's Market
Do yourself a favor. Go to Nino's. This small store in S. Phila. is a treasure. The Italian meats are absolutely the best. The owners are wonderful. The smells alone, in this store will make you think you went to heaven
Hymie's Merion Delicatessen
This is a really good deli. Probably the best corned beef special in the area. The employees who clean up and do some of the serving are very polite. Some of the older ones, possibly owners, or family, need a little work in the "nice" department. The food is good.
Real Pizza Narberth
The pizza is pretty good. It has some tough competition in the area, and probably wouldn't be your first choice to impress someone from out of town. It is a good spot for a quick bit after visiting one of the local pubs.
Morrone's Water Ice Inc
This place is an institution. They have been selling water ice at this location, I think, since the day after Columbus got here. The lines are still long on hot nights, but worth the wait. The lemon water ice is the BEST. Good soft pretzels too.
New Garrett Kabob & Grocery
This is a great place for finding spices and some foods that other stores don't carry. The owners are very friendly and want to help you. I never knew there were so many kinds of ginger. Check it out.
Merion Square Gourmet Foods
This is a good find. It is a little off the beaten path, but worth the extra looking. The owner is a good guy with alot of stories. The mushroom cheese burger is a winner. sodas are always good and cold.
New Long Lane Pizza
I used to live in the area, and found this place to be one of the best. They don't skimp on toppings. I like either the mushroom and sausage, or the veggie pizzas. The delivery could be a tad quicker, so if you're hungry, pick it up.
Ming Coffee Shop
Ming's is a gem in Drexel Hill. I had my doubts when they opened, but great food and the best customer service is a winning combo. The world's best pancakes and really good sausage are also a winning combo.
Mescellino's Pizza
The pizza is OK here, but the competition is heavy. Within a few blocks there are three more really good pizza shops. Mescellino's is the closest to the pubs and that must keep them going. The thing I like is that their pizza reminds me of boardwalk pizza.
Mediterranean Catering
I know the owner as Maria's mom. The food from her kitchen kicks catering up a few notches. Maria's Mom is a wonderful Greek woman who cooks your food like it was for her own family. More than Greek food. All great stuff. Yassou!
