My best friend got her wedding cake done by Denise and it was absolutely beautiful. Even more that beautiful, it was so delicious. The flavor was like a pound cake and it was one of the most moist, tasty cakes I ever ate. I only wish I knew about Denise when I got married.
Slammers is the only bar on Cotton Street that I would venture to enter, aside from Coachlight at the other end. Slammers has nice decor and a cool vibe, although you never know what you're going to get with the other patrons. There have been very seedy characters inside on several occasions.
Trappe Pediatric Care was our doctor's office for several years, until my husband changed jobs and our insurance changed. I loved all of the doctors here, and am sad that I can no longer go here, even if it means a doctor way closer to home. I would gladly drive the 30 mins to still be with Trappe Pediatric. I would recommend them to anyone!
Lincoln Plaza Hotel is an absolutely gorgeous hotel. The lobby is very beautiful and welcoming. The bar, located on the 2nd floor, is sophisticated and elegant. The food is gourmet and absolutely delicious. I highly recommend Lincoln Plaza as your place to stay in the city.
Ollie's Tavern is a cute little bar in the middle of Shoey. They have pretty good beer prices, I got a bottle of Reading premium for $2 which is a decent price around here. This is a bar for locals, as I can't imagine most people would drive up from Reading to go.
I've been going to Ganly's for years after a day at Blue Marsh. The service there is always good and the food is out of this world. We usually stop in for lunch on St Patricks Day, as the festivities start early. If you go in any later than lunch on St. Pats, you will be smashed like sardines.
I've been at the Old Village Inn twice and had a great time both visits. The first time I was there, it was with a wedding party, after the reception at Th Holiday Inn ended. The owners were so lovely, taking pictures of the wedding party in the dining room and chatting us all up. The drinks are cheap and the crowd is fun. I only wish I lived closer, as it would probably end up being my favorite bar.
This is a quiet bar in Mohnton. It's nice in my opinion, although it doesn't get very busy. It surprises me because there aren't many "small town" bars in this general area. I think it has that small town charm that places like Flanagan's or Champions just don't have.
Naomi Hotel is a perfect find... the kind of bar that you wouldn't normally stop at, unless the word of mouth spread about what a hidden gem it is. It's a perfect local bar with all types of stories being told. You find yourself in a good mood, just sitting at the bar, soaking in the surroundings, getting to know your new best friends. It's a great place that I highly recommend!
Iron Post Inn is a nice, little neighborhood bar where everyone knows your name. They have good beer specials, $1 drafts and really good food. I especially like their fried appetizers and they have good wings.
