Dr. Kias has been our family physican for nearly 30 years. He is one of the finest doctors I have encountered in the 40 years I have been an adult and selecting my own doctors. He can a bit terse at times, but I suspect this is because he is the highest ranking medical officer in Georgia in the Army Reserve. He always takes adequate time, whether the visit is for a routine check-up or a specific problem. His competence is first-rate. He genuinely cares about every patient. He is not practicing medicine to make money - as evidenced by the fact that, unlike many physicians, he accepts medicare and medicaid patients. Medicine is a calling for Dr. Kias. His days begin at 6AM, with rounds at both hospitals. He often finishes after 6PM. He does this because he cares about his patient's health, and he refuses to rush through any appointment.
We have some connections within the Athens medical community, having both nurses and doctors as friends. Dr. Kias enjoys the universal respect of this community. He is a doctor to whom other doctors (and nurses) send their own family members.
He has treated both my wife and I for specific health problems, including a couple of serious illnesses. I can say quite literally, he once saved my life.
I have no hesitation in giving him my highest endorsement.
I have never encountered a wine shop with as strong a combination of: 1) an excellent selection, at every price point - except for really upper-end bottles that retail for over $100; a friendly and patient staff. Their sole motivation appears to be helping you find bottles you will enjoy, and; 3) most important, an extraordinarily knowledgeable group of associates. They love to talk wine, and if you aren't in a hurry, every visit can be a terrific educational experience.
