This is an excellent space for experiencing jazz. The price is unbeatable and the performers and music are world-class. The place is a tremendous asset to the city.
Okay supermarket, which recently made much-needed renovations, and added more health-food selections. Useful as a place to buy the basics but it's surrounded by world-class food shops (for produce, Middle Eastern, Italian) where the quality is much higher and the prices more competitive.
Being the lone store on the block, they are particularly welcome. Not only do they have the standard pharmaceuticals, but also many market basics, like milk and juice, that save the locals a longer excursion. Prices are very fair and staff are helpful.
Much as I prefer to support non-chain establishments, I have to admit that this store is well-run, convenient, almost always has what I need, at fair prices, with lots of sales and discounts. The pharmacists there are also very helpful.
Not bad but not the best Korean restaurant either. They specialize, not surprisingly, in fresh tofu, which does have a wonderful, light consistency, unlike store-bought. Their main dishes are fine, reasonably-priced, with balanced spices.
Excellent sales people, who know feet and shoes and will help you zero in on what you really want. Very good selection of both men's and women's shoes especially more casual styles.
For a small space, these guys carry a tremendous selection of women's-only shoes. The prices vary, from very inexpensive to pretty pricey, but the overall quliaty is high and you can usually find something you like for a good price.
Excellent Middle Eastern restaurant with food that's a notch above average. Everything is very fresh--the namesake hummus is especially so. Lots of choices for vegetarians but meateaters will be happy too.
Coould compete for the best breakfast in Brooklyn. The oatmeal is especially satisfying. It's a popular spot and you might have to wait for service. But it's a fun place ot hangout so the wait becomes part of the overall experience.
Intimate, European decor and ambiance. Though the menu is limited, everything on it is tops, lincluding the organic, hard-boiled eggs, freshly squeezed OJ and heavenly La Cologne coffee.
