The burgers and sandwiches are great here. The menu is simple which is refreshing nowadays. Of course the cheese fries are world famous and a must if it's your first time there!
I'm from Dallas and this is one of my favorite stores anywhere. It's an adorable boutique that carries clothes, cooking equipment, gifts, baby stuff, jewelry, and there's even a florist in the back. I bought some jeans there a few years back that retailed for over $200 a piece and I got them for about $30 each.
This place is great for those visiting Hays from out of town. The beer and food is excellent. We actually bought some growlers of the beer to take home. The sandwiches I've had have all been good and also the side dishes too.
Al's is the old staple that I always visit when I'm in Hays. The interior is 1940's diner style with a "chicken" theme. The chicken is pretty good but I think the best things on the menu are the french fries, salad with Dorothy Lynch dressing and chicken noodle soup. FYI...they're always out of baked potatoes.
I'm from Texas and while the Taco Ship is definitely not mexican food, I think it's really good and unique. My favorite is the borracho...two tostadas filled with rice and beef and topped with sour cream and cheese. I recommend going with the hotter hot sauce if you're used to something a little spicier than the usual midwestern food.
Kenny's is a well kept secret. I think people drive by and assume it's a pizza place, but it's actually got a little bit of everything. One of the things I like best are the popovers which you get at the beginning of the meal. It's easy to make a meal out of appetizers and wine. The seared ahi tuna crisps are great!
I've always loved this place! The panacea supreme (turkey sandwich with barbecue sauce) and the royal roughage (chef salad) are my favorites. The atmosphere is also really fun.
I'm a huge fan of this bar! The drinks are cheap, the atmosphere's great, and the food is excellent....I especially like the sliders. The best seats in the house are on the low level with the comfortable swivel chairs.
I've eaten here for lunch several times before. It looks a little bit questionable but the food is delicious! I love the green beans and chicken. It's listed as a special but they seem to have it every day.
This is my favorite middle eastern restaurant in Dallas (I go to the Lakewood location...not the Irving location). I do miss the old location over on Greenville but the new one is great also. I recommend the Shish Tawook and the hummus!
