I just joined about 2 weeks ago- my girlfriend has been a member for a couple years. I was hesitant because of the negative things even she once said about the trainers approaching you and the initial sign-up fees. Long story short, I went with her for a tour because we had nothing else going on. The gym sales guy offered me a $10/month plan, no contract, with an annual $39 fee to "lock-in" the monthly rate. The staff members weren't annoying at all during the signup. He did offer me a $20/month plan that included classes, but I declined it, and that was the end of the sales pitch. There is a lot of weight lifting equipment that is in great condition and I haven't had to wait to get on my preferred machines. There are a lot of treadmills, ellipticals, and bikes, again, no wait times to get on these either. In the (6) times I've gone to the gym, not one personal trainer has approached me- but I've seen plenty of them working out. I don't think they come up to anyone anymore- you probably need to schedule a session at the front desk if you're interested in that. I would recommend work out world if you're looking to lift weights and use the machines. The low cost is what really won me over (at roughly 13 bucks a month including that annual fee).
