I hardly ever write reviews unless I'm really pleased or really irate. Unfortunately, this review is to warn anyone who reads it to go somewhere else. It's not worth any money you might save because you are dead to them once they have your money.
They've got an sleeve full of tricks and excuses, and they're very adept at always having an answer for the MANY horrible reviews that say the same thing i'm saying. Trust me, if they respond to my review, it's gonna be a lie, and that's how they do business.
I wouldn't say these guys are crooks, but that's only because there's supposedly honor among thieves.
These guys are relentless extortionists! I had AAA's service for years and years but canceled in June (after yet another bogus new fee was added to my bill). I canceled before the start of the next quarter. They still prorated my refund (only paid back a portion) and charged me a $25 return fee for my receptacle. Like many others, I never agreed to pay a fee to end my service. I disputed the fee and unreturned portion of my payment with my credit card company so I got my money back right? Not so easy!
In early December, I received a bill from them, postmarked 12/4/2009, with a due date of 12/3/2009. In other words they sent the bill to me after it was already over due, a tactic I suspect that is set up to allow them to report me to a credit agency even sooner. I called their customer service and the rep stated that they never waive the fee. He added that the only way out of the fee is to file a small claims suit but that costs $50 so most customers just pay the fee.
So in a nutshell:
1. They make up a fee to charge you for canceling your service, whether you agreed to it or not. You only find out when you cancel.
2. They won't waive the fee under any circumstances.
3. If you don't pay it they will report you to a credit agency.
4. They rely on the fact that most people won't pay $50 and go through the trouble of filing a suit.
I've never even considered a law suit, and certainly not a class action suit, but I'm already researching it. Somebody's got to do something about this - it's just not right!
