I received a gift card for Christmas for Total Beauty Expeience, which is a store that I had never visited before, being more of a Walmart girl! At first, I was a little overwhelmed with the vast array of products, and, being a little unfamiliar with the Arden area, a little out of my element. But it was so much fun to look at the all of the products and walk around the truly beautifully arranged retail area. I was especially impressed with the wide variety of hair care products. If I ever win the lottery, this will be on my top ten list of establishments to spread the wealth around in! Additionally, the charming lady who rang up our purchase guided us to a really great new Mediterranean restaurant in the same strip, just a few doors down.
This store has a wonderful selection, but I probably won't go back due to the extremely poor customer service. It's a shame because I remember the days (many years ago) when the staff was eager to help, but, sad to say, quite the opposite is true now. We went into the El Camino store twenty five minutes before closing today and were greeted by a staff of about six, standing around chatting, with no one acknowledging our presence in the store. I asked a question about a specific product, and one of the staff reluctantly guided me to the right area, after first telling me the item in question wasn't in the store. Incredibly, when we were browsing in the essential oils area, one of the employees turned off half of the store lights and loudly announced "ten minutes till closing!" My friend protested that we couldn't see what we were trying to buy, and the lights were turned back on after about a minute. I would have walked out right there if we were closer to Sunrise Natural Foods, but that was not the case. Great selection, but rude, rude staff and terrible customer service!! I'm old enough to remember when it seemed like hippies ran the place......I miss those days!
