Fun City
Decent skating establishment. The floor is a little warped in places, and the rental skates can be dicey. I do like to take my kids here on Tuesday evenings for Christian Skate Night. Entrance and food on this night are MUCH cheaper than the normal prices.
Painted Potter
My daughter was invited to a birthday party here, and she absolutely loved it. This is a great way to let your child express his/her creativity and have a keepsake in the process. Prices are rather expensive, so you might consider keeping the guest list small if you are throwing a party here!
Circus Buffet
The price was pretty good, but I guess in this case you get what you pay for. Food and selection were adequate, but really nothing special. The fact that it was conveniently located in the hotel was really its top selling point.
Pizza Oven
Delicious, oven-baked pizza. The pizza is reasonably priced, but the drinks are a a bit expensive (although they give you a cup to take home). If we drink water, my kids and I can eat there for $10.00, since we share a pizza.
Boardwalk Fudge
Great little "fudgery" and gift shop off the main drag in Kemah. It is much easier to find parking in this area. Lots of cute little knick-knacks and many different varieties of delicious fudge!
Coffee Dog
Love this little coffee house! I make sure to stop by every time I am traveling down Highway 71 through Bastrop. Drive-thru service and lots of interesting drinks. Prices are comparable to Starbucks, but it is much unique!
Crescent City Beignets
A taste of New Orleans in Houston! Wonderful, fluffy beignets done just right! Can be ordered in threes, but three just does not seem to be enough! Accessible location if you live inside the loop.
Queen Anne
This is really a cute little bed and breakfast in a nice Victorian home. We stayed in one of the upstairs rooms with a private bath, and the room was very nicely decorated. The owners were very helpful, and the breakfast was absolutely incredible...the best French toast EVER, made on challah bread. Loved it!
Hotel Galvez & Spa, A Wyndham Grand Hotel
Extraordinary lodgings in a beautiful building, right on the Seawall. This is a gorgeous hotel, but you do pay for the priviledge of staying here. Even in the off-season, rooms could easily be at least $150/night. But if you want to splurge, this is the place!
Romano Flying Pizza
Don't let the "pizza" name fool you! This place is a true gem, with wonderful lunch specials and incredible bread. Very reasonably priced. Cafeteria-style service. Try the lasagna -- it is mouth-watering!
