I did not have a good experience with Dr. Menefee at all. He gave me a very uneasy feeling from the very beginning and I should have trusted my gut instinct. I only saw him once before quickly switching doctors. I'm not going to go into details, but please do not schedule an appointment with Dr. Menefee. I don't know how this guy is still in business, but you feel like you are visiting a creepy uncle vs visiting a qualified doctor.
Dr. Cotton is a great doctor. She obviously knows what she's doing and cares about her patients. I have been with Virginia Beach Pediatric Center since 2001 when my oldest son was born. I started with Dr. Tara Prieur. She was my childrens' pediatrician until they were 5 and 7 when I was pregnant with my third son and she moved away. My childrens' files were then transferred to Dr. Cotton. Although I was very happy with Dr. Prieur and did not want a new doctor to see my children, Dr. Cotton quickly relieved those concerns. I trust her with my children, and have recommended her to my pregnant friends, who now have her as a doctor as well.
I thought it didn't exist, until we found Dr. Lewis. When our son had a febrile seizure and was admitted to CHKD PICU, we were lucky enough to be connected with Dr. Lewis. He never judged us for having "stupid" questions or made us feel like our opinions didn't matter. He took the time to explain everything to us in medical detail AND in layman's terms. He didn't mind repeating himself when the grandparents came into the room. When he said he would come back to check on our son in two hours, he was right on time. Everything he said would happen with our son, did. Now our child walks around like nothing ever happened - healthy as can be. You pray and hope your child never needs a neurologist...... but if they ever do, this is the doctor to go to!
