We hired Capital City Exteriors to put gutters on our house a few years ago. Their estimate was close to that of a huge gutter company, but while the huge company gave us the pressure-filled "car salesman" pitch, Capital City was upfront in their pricing and had a friendly, no-pressure approach. Capital City did a great job and made sure everything matched and looked neat down to the details. I would definitely recommend them.
We hired Aqua City Plumbing's St. Paul office to unclog a toilet after an object was accidentally dropped and flushed. Our experience was horrible. The service person who showed up took our toilet off the floor and then told us it was unfixable and tried to sell us a new one for $700. A SEVEN HUNDRED DOLLAR toilet. We then asked if he could try using an auger -- the most basic of plumbing tools, which he had not tried. He said he didn't have one with him. He tried to get us to still pay a $250 service call/repair fee even though he hadn't fixed the toilet. We refused, so he called his manager, and then somehow miraculously located an auger in his truck, which popped the item right out of the toilet. It was just a huge scam and I'm still mad about it to this day. We filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau and wrote a letter to the company. A couple of weeks later we received a short apology note from the manager and a refund of the entire fee we had paid. We did appreciate that, but honestly, it was such a horrible, stressful experience it made us think of those undercover segments they do on the news to expose bad business practices. To be fair, this was a couple of years ago, so you never know, maybe they have changed. But I'd be careful.
One of the springs broke on our garage door opener. Crawford Door had someone available within two business days. The repair person was on time, professional, and fixed our door very quickly. The cost was reasonable ($190 flat fee for the service call and replacement of two springs on a double door). I would definitely recommend Crawford Door and would use them again myself.
Mmmmmm.... great food! They are kid-friendly and have a wide range of menu items. We are vegetarians and we all love this place - kids included. I would definitely recommend it.
I Nonni (or Osteria I Nonni) is a beautiful restaurant that would be great for a romantic or special occasion. The service is attentive and there's a great Italian deli in the same building if you want to pick up some gelato or other yummies. There are many appetizers and small plates for $7-12 each; full meals are pricier. You can check out their full menu at inonnirestaurant.com. I wish they had some good vegetarian options - almost all of their main dishes include meat, which is a big issue for our family. But if you like meat and seafood, there's plenty to choose from.
We have eaten at Luci Ancora many times and really like it. It's a beautiful restaurant with superb service. In the wintertime, you can sit by a fireplace and it's very warm and cozy. The food has been great and is complemented by a nice wine selection. And unlike some nice restaurants, Luci also makes desserts that are worth the extra calories. Definitely a great date-night destination, and also a wonderful spot for dining with family and friends.
I love Dr. Wheeler. She is friendly, kind and great with our dog. She takes time to answer any questions you might have, and will call to check up on your pet if they've been sick. We've seen a few vets over the years, and Dr. Wheeler is my favorite. I would highly recommend her. The office/tech staff is really great too -- super friendly and helpful. The clinic has four vets on staff, so if you need to get in quickly, they are able to fit you in with one of the vets even if it's not the person you usually see. We've seen Dr. Megan too and liked her a lot as well. I would highly recommend Companion Animal Hospital, and especially Dr. Wheeler!!
We LOVE LOVE LOVE this restaurant! If you haven't eaten there, do yourself a favor and go. This neighborhood treasure is in the basement of an apartment building across the street from the University of St. Thomas. But inside waits an exceptional, upscale restaurant with food that is simply outstanding. The service is expert and friendly. We are vegetarians and never tire of eating there, and our meat-eating friends say they've had some of their best meals there as well. Try the roasted garlic appetizer - it has that plus apple/raisin chutney, goat cheese and baguette slices. I often have this for my meal! They are famous for it. They also offer a wonderful wine selection, great salads and yummy entrees no matter what you are in the mood for. It's perfect for a meal with friends, family, business associates or a romantic evening out. Just writing this review has made me want to go eat there. Cafe 128 rocks!
This is our FAVORITE restaurant in the Eagan area, hands down! Our three kids love it too, even the two-year-old. Whether you eat in our get take-out, the food is truly awesome. Try the Malai Kofta, or Nav Rattan Korma - our kids love both of those (we get it mild for them). Don't forget to order some Naan (Indian bread); you can get it plain or get flavors such as garlic or Aloo Naan, which is stuffed with delicious potatoes that have a little kick. The service is always friendly and attentive. We love Sambol!! We're so lucky to have this great restaurant in the area.
Buon Giorno has awesome pizza and great gelato, along with a ton of other Italian deli items that you can pick up to eat at home. YUM!
