Main Street Smokehouse
This new little smokehouse serves a mean BBQ and some awesome sides. You don't get waitress service, you order and they call your number. There is an adequate amount of tables or you can take your food to go. They offer a fairly good hot sauce selection.
Hackney's On Lake
Hackney's is known for their burger and I think they are very good, but certainly not the best around. Their onion loaf is nice and greasy and very good. The restaurant is dark and old, but definitely a well known landmark.
Red Pony Restaurant
Red Pony has a large, eclectic menu. The food is very good and the atmosphere is even better. Great cocktails, too! The art displayed on the walls is interesting and I believe by local artists. Fun place.
Topolobampo Frontera Grill
This is Rick Bayless's trophy. The food is authentic and unique. The menu changes often, but you will always have a memorable meal.
Cafe Central
This is a charming restaurant in downtown Highland Park. Excellent French food. Very busy restaurant and not inexpensive. This restaurant is run by Carlos' other half. Good wine list and excellent specials. You won't be disappointed.
Froggy's French Cafe
Froggy's is a fun and interesting dining experience. The food is good and some interesting. It is a hot spot in Highwood and well known to the locals. Good menu selection and good specials, too.
Spiaggia Restaurant
The room is gorgeous, the servers are attentive and the food is exquisite. Excellent Mag Mile location and definitely a memorable dining experience. Truly fabulous.
Pete Miller's Seafood & Prime Steak
Good steakhouse - not quite Mortons or Ruths Chris, but very good. Large restaurant, good parking and convenient suburban location.
Adobo Grill
Adobo Grill hs excellent tableside guacamole and the usual mexican menu with a little flare. The food is very good, but nothing stood out as memorable. The Sangria was good.
Le Bouchon
Le Bouchon is a tiny French bistro located in the Bucktown neighborhood. The restaurant is always busy and has very good French food. They offer a three-course menu at a very reasonable price and have a small, but decent wine list.
