I had a horrible experience at Urgent Care in Fenton this evening. Not only was the office manager rude and obviously bothered that we showed up at 8:50pm (they close at 9:00), the interaction I had with JoAnne Johnson (I don't think she deserves the title "doctor") was absolutely baffling! After providing my insurance card, and driver's license, I actually read the paperwork they handed me. This not only demanded my credit card number, expiration date, and SECURITY CODE from the back before getting treatment, it also required me to agree to allow them to use my signature to make charges on my card at their discretion. In addition to this I was supposed to agree to give up my rights granted to me by the credit card company and my insurance company. I spoke with the receptionist and office manager to express my concerns and unwillingness to sign the papers presented to me. At no time did I lose my temper, yell, or curse. At that point, the "doctor" came out and I attempted to explain to her my concerns. I told her that it's obvious the office isn't managed properly, as I had never been able to get an answer when I called the office number, and that the voice recording I'd heard today was one that addressed the office closing early a week ago Monday, and that I'd had rushed over in hopes of finding them still open. Johnson was obviously concerned however that someone might hear my legitimate concerns, because she had the audacity to tell me to leave or she would call 911. I explained that she needed to provide better service to her patients and she began to scream at me: "Walk away now. You are not my patient. You are scum under my feet!" As tempting as it was to want to stay there while she called 911 and explained that a prospective patient was calmly stating legitimate concerns with her way of doing business, I felt my daughter had been through enough and needed medical treatment, so I calmly left. Thankfully, I found another after hours location across town where she was able to get excellent medical care, provided in a quality, professional, respectful manner.
